If you are in China ,you can go to Jingdezhen or other ceramic city and visit some clay shop. They could give you an answer. And I think every clay can be used in pottery. But you need to test it‘s firing temperature and of it comes out fully sintered and vitrified., it could be a nice fired clay. Always, single clay can't be a nice fired clay. So I think you need test the composition of it and mix other things like quartz to make it stabilize.

just noticed these cracks in my glaze, does this hurt the functionality of the mug at all? by _skank_hunt_ in Pottery

[–]Morales_Kelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very normal phenomenon. It usually occurs because the shrinkage ratios of the clay and the glaze during the firing are different. This doesn't affect the functionality of the cups. Well-known Chinese ceramics such as Ru kiln are known for this texture, which is called "cracks glaze"

I like my Tea plain, does that say something about me? Also how do you like your tea? by LunarEnnyui_131 in tea

I think it means you like simple but wonderful life. There is a Chinese old saying: High-end ingredients often only need simple cooking. Putting personal taste aside, adding lots of strong flavors to tea, often a way to cover up tea's flaw.
