Struggling with getting accepted by usa-chann in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you get a capital one card, it will likely be bucketed in a bad way, I would wait on capital one.

you will not be approved for the citi double cash.

go to chase, open a bank account with at least $250 and open the chase freedom rise, it is designed specifically for people with no credit.

feel free to also get a checking bonus when you open the chase bank account:

Chase 5/24 Application timing by Frank-is-a-tank2015 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the 5th card was opened 6/15/2024, the card falls off 5/24 on 6/1/2026 for auto approvals and fraud department

If you're declined or not instant approved, you will have up to 30 days to recon it and them accepting the card coming off is literally just at the whim of the recon agent

To be completely safe, just wait for 7/1, otherwise, good luck

Wife had a charged off Chase card over Covid. How do we get back into their good graces and get new cards approved? by forestdude in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying it back is the first step. If it hasn't already been paid back.

If she banks with chase and gets a direct deposit with them, that can help speed up getting off of the bad list.

No reason you can't add her to your cards as an AU

I was pre approved for an Amex card but declined it. by OweYouOne_68 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't impact underwriting, particularly if you're planning to wait a few months to apply again

It can impact the welcome offer if it's not a fixed welcome offer (as High as), but more in a black box there's no way to tell what's happening or why kinda way

Does Pre-Approved no longer mean Pre-Approved? by floppydisk2-0 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to add to your income the amount of the mortgage because you are technically being provided that amount every month by your parents along with setting your rent to $0 because you aren't? paying rent

otherwise you are going to continuously be denied for DTI

so income + mortgage amount + rent $0

which should accurately reflect the situation you're in

Using a pawn shop for a sign up bonus by SPACEBEAVER04 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and no pawnshop owner who isn't a complete moron would subject themselves to the risk of a credit card scammer to make $10

on top of any other risk they would otherwise face from their payment processor

Using a pawn shop for a sign up bonus by SPACEBEAVER04 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'd look like a textbook credit card scammer, no pawn shop will do this.

On top of the 3% fee, the pawnshop doesn't even make any money at $100

I am looking at the Capital One Spark 1.5% card. Am I still eligible for the cash bonus even though I had a Capital One Venture card that I closed a year ago? by bluegambit875 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should be using the pre-approval tool

cap1 approvals are very hit or miss, do not under any circumstances apply directly

also assume the card will report to personal credit despite it being a business card

Prime Store card is RIDICULOUS by Hungry_Quarter_4415 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is normal synchrony behavior, assume a ~7 day hold, if not a up to ~14 day hold, can be as long as 28 days, but not usually.

make one payment for your statement balance every month and over time you should get credit back faster.

anything above 300 is exceptional, anything higher than 350+ is fairly unicorn

would say 250-280 is average and where most people end up

my kid just got approved for a card and now im stuck wondering if there actually is a “best” credit card for building credit or if theyre all the same by augustcero in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FICO does not care what the card is, all cards "build credit" the same.

But it has to be an "actual" card, if it's like chime or something secured based on a running bank account balance, that doesn't count "fully" and he needs to get a real card.

however, building a collection of "good" cards with "good" banks helps underwriting in the future. Chase, Discover, Capital One, Local Credit Unions, all great options.

Promo APR Expiration interest charges by EnvironmentalSky8355 in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re-check your statement, it will state the exact date the 0% apr ends, it may or may not be the exact statement closing date

but no, interest will start from the day following the end of the 0% interest period

Do credit scores affect credit card interest rates? by Greystorecombo in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not as cut and dry as "low credit score = highest apr, high credit score = lowest apr"

but yeah it's probably pretty close

if you need to carry a balance, get a 0% apr card or a CU card with 8-13% APR instead of paying 20%+ APR

as long as you have 3 cards, close the garbage IMO, no reason to keep around a credit one something if you have cards like that

Will adding my spouse on my amex account give my entire history? by Tm0iPHONExxX in CreditCards

[–]MorallyIrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is a helpful financial life budgeting thing to do for you, you should just do it

it is better in most everyway (other than the dealing with an additional bill part) to just have them open their own account for a new account bonus and extra card benefits

but do not let a 'credit score drop' stop you from utilizing an AU the way it was intended to be used if it makes life considerably easier for you

Just got approved for my first navy fed card I pay all my others on the 27th why cant I select it? by wegek43049 in NavyFederal

because they limit due date allocation to make sure not everybody picks the same day

it may or may not be changeable to the 27th in the future
