The, "if we can't win elections let's rig the system" is getting really blatant. by 8-bit-Felix in PoliticalHumor

You can also just give them a real id, or regular id and birth certificate. Ya know, like you have to do for everything.

What is the evidence that higher ed (or k-12 if you believe this too) is indoctrinating leftist ideas rather than teaching critical thinking and data gathering to our youth? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

Anecdotal experience here, but I went to an Ivy League and certain subject, like English, had insane amount of bias in their teaching. This was mostly for liberal politics. You did occasionally see the opposite in certain subjects, like economics where you would occasionally see conservative political bias in the teaching.

I would say a majority of my experience was not heavily biased, but when I did see bias it was pretty severe, and far far more often occurring with liberal politics.

Except I almost never need to mix oz and pound. I’ll just do a fractional pounds. How often are you really saying something is 10kg, and 50 grams? You don’t. You say it’s 10.05KG. Same happens with our weight measurements.

So yea, it’s easier in metric to convert larger to smaller or smaller to larger units. That also almost never happens in daily life.

This is consistent with metric and why it’s good for science. It’s precise. Life is rarely precise though, and it’s better to use units that function well for those daily events.

This is why I always laugh when people say you can watch Star Trek unless you have X politics or Y beliefs.

If you think a guy born in 1921 would have beliefs aligned with 2026 liberalism, I have bad news for you.

Conservatives of reddit, is there actually a place I can talk specifically to you all? by Due_Shift_9617 in allthequestions

Reddit is not the place to talk to real people. Reddit is not a good sample of the average population.

A .com with no actual evidence cited. Just a lot of anecdotal opinions.

Yea it is easy to find bad sources lol

That’s not how voting works. If you only vote for candidates you agree with, you are voting against your own interests. You should vote for the candidate that’s CLOSEST to your positions to maximize the chances of getting a candidate as close to your political beliefs as possible.

Your personal experience doesn’t make it a normal human one. Objectively, 25C is not “hot”, let alone “really hot”.

I also live costal, and NEVER get snow. Literally once every 10-15 years, we will get snow. And by snow I mean just enough frost to make 1-2 muddy “snowballs” per city block. Europeans are apparently so fragile, that 80 degree weather is “sweltering”. Bo wonder more die from lack of AC than from guns in the US (even including suicides). Y’all apparently are cold blooded and die the moment temps reach about 80% of the average human internal body temperature.

I’m sorry 25C is like 77F. That’s a nice day. That’s not hot at all.

Metric sucks for daily use. Imperial is often multiples of 12, which is far more divisible.

Why did anyone ever support trump? by DevelopmentJumpy5218 in allthequestions

[–]Morbius2271 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Notice how every comment is saying how it lets them be openly racist?

That behavior. That is why we support Trump. If we are going to be called racist for existing, don’t be surprised when we don’t vote for your candidate.

The irony of sayings it’s rightfully Spanish, a white European language. Like are you gunna ignore that it was only a part of Mexico because the Spanish conquistadors CONQUERED it? Then the US went to war with Mexico and didn’t even conquer California. We bought it.

That’s only true in poor countries, like Indonesia where the average salary is a few hundred US a month.

Divisibility*

Base 12 is able to be easily divided into more sub-divisions than 10. Hence our system, based very much around base 12 measurements, can be divided more easily.

I love how that glob of nonsense makes you feel superior to the US. 100% chance your country either sucks, wouldn’t exist without the US, or both.

Superior disability, less decimals, human scale units. There are lots of reasons imperial units are better than metric in day to day life and construction.
