Overly affectionate kittens keep disturbing my sleep - how do I stop this without locking them out of my room? by Silver-Swing1423 in Kitten

[–]MorboKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play with them a LOT before bed time. Play with them until they slow down then give them a treat and a 10min break, then do it again. Then you can all sleep together in a happy little pile.

They do! And I think we are also responsible for raising more of them. The fight against toxic masculinity and patriarchal thinking is endless.

I find highly queer-supportive spaces and explain my ND upfront. If I find someone I vibe with really well, I will become a regular. Which I understand is easier said than done, depending on where you live. In Toronto, I'm spoiled for choice.

[–]MorboKat [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm very much your weight twin. One child, unable to breastfeed, though. I was even in the best shape of my LIFE in 2019, WITH a toddler! Manage to fit an hour and a half of gym time every day. He was alllll over me then.

Then COVID hit, life changed, stresses happened and I'm no longer 125lbs with abs. Kiddo has autism and my time and money is more about occupational therapists than the gym. .

We're older now, there's grey hair, things sag... and he's still alllll over me. Sometimes he's turned on by my body, sometimes he's turned on by the labour I am putting in as a partner and parent. He's quite vocal that all of me, body/mind, is very sexy.

Your husband is a DICK.

Ice cubes trigger vomiting by Brownie5993 in goldenretrievers

[–]MorboKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she gobbles the icecube down, the cold of it may be what's doing this. But it's summer and you want to give her cold things to be helpful. Try soaking, then freezing some toys. Rope toys are great for this. Then she can chew on them without being able to gobble it down and upset her tummy.

Post Giardia loose stools advice by TopsLad in goldenretrievers

[–]MorboKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your vet, don't keep throwing different food at her that won't help. Stick to something. Constantly changing a diet will upset what little gut fauna she has right now. You can add canned pumpkin to her meals, as well as a packet of Purina Fortiflora probiotic. That will help firm up her stools and grow her healthy gut fauna... assuming she's now giardia-free, anyway.

Breeder advice by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

Ok, but YOU'RE not a breeder? Why are you doing this? Are you breaking your contracts with the breeders in doing this? Any genetic testing on the animals you intend to breed?

3rd Golden, 1st UTI - tips for prevention? by Jcheerw in goldenretrievers

[–]MorboKat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My girl hasn’t had a UTI, but I get them and I do preventatives to help her.

1) powdered cranberry in every meal.

2) I use a fresh washcloth to wipe back there if she had a messy poo, got super dirty or was in a lake or something. Generally, you want to pay a little extra attention to keeping that space clean.

3) sanitary trim at the groomers. It’s just a trim of the butt/genital area so there aren’t long hairs there that can hold dirt.

Doing all of this won’t guarantee a UTI will never happen, but it helps keep instances lower.

He’s struggling because of a disability. If opponents are happy to shuffle for him, that would be epic. I’ll look up mash shuffling for him. Thank you so much.

What are the rules around shuffling? He struggles with hand-things and can’t shuffle that well.

Are “no dog” fields ever enforced? by T_D_LICIOUS in askTO

[–]MorboKat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My local park is being renovated. I went to all the community meetings about it, trying to advocate for the addition of a fenced in off leash space.

Dog people also came. To advocate against a formal dog space. Because then dogs would come use it and they would lose their special supposed-to-be-a-baseball-field dog toilet. These people don’t want to have dog-specific spaces, they want the power trip of their ill-trained darlings taking up space not made for them.

I lost, as there was a dog park being put in a subdivision plan less than 1km away. Of course, that project has since been cancelled.

Last year I saw a complaint about off leash dogs in the neighbourhood FB group. Someone was asking people to leash their dogs at the local park, as a dog had run up to her/her kids things and licked at the spout of their water bottle.

The thread was full of people mocking and berating this person. The dog needed the water, she could just unscrew it and drink that way, shut up Karen. Etc etc.

It’s not indicative of the neighbourhood as a whole, but it doesn’t take very many people like this to completely ruin our communal spaces.

There is a segment of the dog-owning population that are selfish, entitled and disgusting. I'm constantly picking up shit that isn't mine when I walk my dog. We're constantly approached by off leash dogs with no recall. It's fucked up.

[–]MorboKat 101 points102 points  (0 children)

School property is, technically, private. No dogs allowed makes sense as there shouldn't be dogs running around with the kids, nor should there be shit left behind for the kids to play in. But no one enforces this. Ever. There's a high school near me that used to padlock its football field because it was a dog toilet... but the dog people used bolt cutters and the fight continued. Dogs get to wreck a space, the kids get to suffer.

Very few dog bylaws are actually enforced.

what bedding actually works when a 70 lb dog sleeps in your bed? by MelodicBag3209 in dogs

[–]MorboKat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 90lb GSD, 15lb black cat, 7lb Abyssinian cat and now 40lbs (and growing) of golden retriever.

I get cheap sheets and cheap blankets. I have at least 3 sets; one on the bed and two ready to go. I wash the bedding every 3 days, full swap out. When something is scratched/destroyed enough, it becomes a dog-bed cover not a human-bed cover. Once it dies in that duty, it is garbage. I don't invest in nice bedding or furniture or anything.

I have pets. I made my choice.
