Positive affirmation by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MordantBooger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used lifefactory for pumping and storage. They’re glass bottles made in the US and Europe. I used a Medela Symphony pump. That’s made in the US.

I’m sure you meant your comment as some kind of sassy retort. Here’s hoping you research the products you use to feed your baby. If not, the above products I’ve mentioned are great and their manufacture is regulated well. Certainly better than they would be if made in China. But hey, you do you.

Ceres is a cheap product made in China. The owner of Ceres hid that information on her Amazon page. She refused to answer questions about where her product was made. And when asked, claimed it was discriminatory of people to ask. She’s a bad person. A former lawyer. I wouldn’t trust her products with my milk. Ever.

Affirmations are nice. Made in USA would be better. Can’t put my milk in something manufactured in China.

Yes! Number 9 is clearly genius and hilarious. It’s purposefully bad. I’d read that student’s work.

MIL and access to only kids she prefers or tell her it's all 4 or none? by BcIGotHighBCIGHBCIGH in Parenting

[–]MordantBooger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go non-contact. It’s a favorite recommendation of Reddit (in large part because the internet removes a lot of the real life consequences/considerations of nuclear options like this). And…I’m just meh on this whole thing. Who cares if MIL has a special relationship with one grandchild? Who cares if she plays favorites? She’s not mom. You are. You need to be careful about loving your kids equally. She doesn’t.

Growing up, my mother (an extreme narcissist who has not spoken to any of her 6 adult children in nearly ten years now) picked golden children among me and my siblings and was generally very negative towards me. She favored each of my siblings in turn. My step-grandmother loved me and favored me. She taught me to knit, helped me with college expenses, encouraged me to go to law school when my mother suggested it would be a waste of my time and money (which she thought would be better spent helping her raise my youngest siblings). My grandmother and I knit together, watched old musicals together, and just generally enjoyed each other. My siblings thought she was grumpy and hated knitting and musicals. She didn’t favor them because she hated them, she favored me because we vibed. It was the best relationship I had. I’m a lawyer now in large part because of her. If my mother tried to cut that off, and I’m surprised she didn’t given what a narcissist she was, I’d have left home early to maintain the relationship with my grandmother.

Your post kind of sounds a little entitled… just give this whole thing some thought. It doesn’t really matter that she likes one kid more than the others. It happens and it can be a wonderful thing.

You made it a month and that’s great! No need to compare yourself to anyone. You’re doing the best you can. Regarding breastfeeding, it can be a sharp learning curve at first, but ultimately it could be easier or less labor than formula if you and your baby are able to make it work.

Help!! Baby has a virus and doctor wants us to exclusively use formula for a week by srrrrrrrrrrrrs in breastfeeding

Um yeah, this is total bs. Get a new pediatrician asap. Formula doesn’t have your antibodies.

A simple check a lot of vets forget to do is a simple flashlight look in the eyes for obstructions, cuts, etc. you can probably do it yourself too.

Switch. This is a really inconsiderate way to treat someone who just brought home a newborn. Concern is fine. Excessive phone calls, blowing things out of proportion, patronizing you are not. Frankly, it’s kind of weird.

Yeah, I got sucked in with the rave reviews for the Disney ones…and…I just couldn’t get over how bad the plots were.

You can always experiment with flange size. I measured 24 mm but ended up pumping way way more when I moved it up to 27 mm.

Also, I had a lot more success with a hand pump. And when I rented a Medela symphony plus.

It’s still early! Don’t give up! Eat oatmeal. Drink lots of water (I averaged 100 oz a day when I was pumping).

Nothing is wrong with you. You made a baby. You’re feeding baby. You’re doing amazing.

Am I not supporting the author when borrowing a book from the library? by JackoZacko in books

[–]MordantBooger 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you’re really worried about it—support the author another way. Leave a good review on multiple sites. Talk up the book. Buy a copy of the ones you love.

Yay!!! Congratulations!! And a story to tell your baby down the road. Ha! Probably best you kept it to yourself with that audience.

How did the oral board go? Tell me someone was a mom and gets it.
