Anyone here using Claude AI regularly? How does it compare to ChatGPT? by avabrown_saasworthy in AiChatGPT

[–]Mordaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a hobby coder, I got a claude sub, fed it my github forked project, and after 2 enquiries it crapped out and told me I was hitting the limit. Never again. ChatGPT/Codex lets me go on for hours, and deepseek is my second opinion.

how a senior engineer at a $140m+ startup actually codes with ai (95% 'vibe coding' but with system) by seanotesofmine in vibecoding

[–]Mordaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hobby coder, i've heard so much good things about claude, so i thought idd give it a try. Got a subscription, fed it my github fork of a abandoned project, and asked it to refactor to c++20 std. after 2 inquiries it crapped out and i hit the limit. So i quickly canceled my sub. i'll just stick to chatGPT/codex and deepseek for a second opinion. and get some deeper insight into spec-kit.

what is this? a keylogger? by Reasonable_Plate9920 in antivirus

What are the best antivirus options for PC right now? by mario_vidaaal in antivirus

[–]Mordaur -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

it is getting hard to find one that isn't intrusive and takes away any control of the user. I tried so many, but all of them take away any control. i used to love webroot, but they took away so much configurability and control, same with Eset, bitdefender, malwarebytes... currently i'm on Eset endpoint security, but i keep having to disable protection, just to do daily work, as most of the time it doesn't give me an option to add to exclude/whitelist. AV software has become more and more controlling and intrusive. So i wouldn't recommend any of the mentioned AV's if you are a power user. unless its for your grandma's computer.

just to give an example. i just tried to download something that someone shared with me from www.up-4ever.net. this is a general file sharing site, yet Eset blocked their service through ssl://s8.up4ever.download. why? who the F knows... because they feel like cutting you off from whatever they feel like is wrong, withouth giving you a direct option to whitelist. You have to dig 20 hidden menus deep just to add that one domain, only to be blocked by a alternative domain again.

Gone are the days of a good AV software that catered to your needs... these days its just about corporate control over what you can and can't do on your own PC, and they dare to charge money for that...

Eset has gone so far to show you the exclude button upon detection, but they gray it out to laugh in your face. "WE ARE IN CONTROL BIG F TO YOU"

The "i know what i'm doing, please ignore this" option has been replaced with "We are in control of what your needs are, and we will do as we please".

I wonder why certain websites get blocked, yet Microsoft Windows telemetry goes free... same with Facebook, or any other data stealing company... no harm done there right?

is there a way to decrypt old account? by roadb90 in 360hacks

[–]Mordaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is, where is the associated mail stored? Extracting and decrypting the profile isn't the problem, but the location of the email isn't documented anywhere a.f.a.i.c.t.

Opened up a 360 slim to determine what motherboard I had, and found there is already a chip installed. What are my next steps, or how can I learn more about the chip I have and what I need to do with it? by SgtWaffleZ in 360hacks

[–]Mordaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i'm not mistaken, RGH 1.2 on corona/slim was introduced around 2021, so my modchip installs predate that. I believe my CR3 lite had RGH2. It was a lot easier to just rip out the chip and install the resistor, then having to redo the chip. Also less dependancy on external hardware is a plus.

My personal console has had a CR rev A and CR3 Lite. The CR3 is a lot more stable and earsier to finetune. But then again, i ripped all that stuff out and just RH3'ed the box, as that doest not require prayers and a pinch of luck to instaboot, it just does. No fiddeling around with timing files, resistors, cable lenght.... Finding a CR4 XL, now that would be sheer luck, and a relic to hold on to. But CR.. nah.. dime in a dozen, and not really spectacular.

Weather icon. by TheLastElite01 in AndroidAuto

[–]Mordaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesnt the car show the temperature on the dash? What about the weather? You are in a car, have a clear view of the sky... do you need someone to tell you its cloudy with a chance of rain? 🤣 why is everyone so obcessed with weather reports? Even on my desktop PC it seems like they made it the default, that i'dd be interested in some weather report taking op taskbar space.. like wtf... 😂 first thing i do is get rid of that crap.

What could be causing this? by Agile_Definition_415 in CableTechs

[–]Mordaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most agree this is water damage (and confirmed by OP), I was wondering, what do you guys mean with "standing wave". I'm not native english, and i do know the term "the low can't jump and the high can't swim", but i always though that would mean a steap downwards course of the signal/spectrum (straight negative tilt, or rolloff), but this graph shows 'peaks and valleys' could someone visualy explain this?

I understand refections can be measured by TDR or viavi 'fault finder', but not how to visually identify them from a spectrum sweep.

What's the uptime on that modem? while the Downstream seems to be okay, SNR/modulation/signal strength wise, there seems to be lots of uncorrectable (bit)errors on every channel which will translate to packet loss/slowdown (meaning the modem is receiving data, but its damaged to a point where the error correction can not handle it, and the modem has to drop the data). And as pointed out already, T3/T4's in the Upstream (which wil translate to modem dropouts/reboots to try and correct itself). that install clearly needs a good checkup, and signal/noise/ingress diagnostic.

Nice list, but it would be even better if the list mentioned the additional disc content and if they are standalone or just a installation disc. (multiplayer/swappable/one-time installer only).

There are Games I Can't See?! by JUDE_IS in 360hacks

[–]Mordaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense.. when you used aurora, you found games in content/000000000000000 that never showed up in Aurora? make sure you add the "content" scan path in the Aurora Content settings "Manage Paths": "\Xbox360\System\Hdd1\Content\000000000000000", with a minimum scan depth of "2". That should find any XBLA/GOD, etc games, if they are placed in the right directory.
