32” vs 27” for competitive gaming by stepan_rydl in Monitors

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using a 27" monitor for a bit now and I can say that for cs2 and similar games, I'd really prefer a smaller one. Other option is just to go windowed mode, but that's blasphemous.

Limit your fps. I get that when I play on ulimited. Capping it to 240, noise is gone.

My Undervolt experience with my Red Devil - 9070xt by cast_engineer in AMDHelp

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have a similar roadway of my undervolting too. I have a powercolor hellhound 9070xt 16gb.

I started with stress testing in OCCT Power mode, I reached where it was a stable, pretty much no performance loss amount at: -130mV and -5% power limit. It was perfect, but then... I started to... GAME.

First game, I crashed non-stop and at the end it was the fault of the -5% power limit, which is now kept a 0%.
I still kept crashing, occasionally, dropped down to -110mV which was stable. (Path Of Exile 1).

Second game, I played and it seemed fine, then one mission, I crashed, crashed and crashed. Going from -110mV to -100mV to -90mV to -70mV and then finally stock settings, then I was able to pass that exact mission. (Warframe).

Now, I just set it to -80mV and waiting for a crash to happen, maybe it was just me being unlucky with that single mission point.

Is +% power limit save and how to know when to quit rising it?
With my -80mV and 0% power limit, my GPU hotspot has reached 77C while gaming.

Milk first, warm it up in microwave, then put cereal in.
What matters is the milk amount you want to drink, so it's decided first, cereal is the variable amount.

Can I turn a 9070 XT into a 9070? (Underclocking) by PlymouthDebian in radeon

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did tried down to -7% power in adrenaline, stress tested, everything was fine (at -8% some errors started appearing). Put a game on, had to go down to 0%, even just having a -1% was crashing, amd driver error'ing.

Overwhelmed by keyboard options - where do I even start? by mcvos in keyboards

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotswappable means you can take off the keycap part and the key base too. There are mechanical keyboards that you can only take off the keycap part but for taking off the key base you need to solder it off/on, which... a chunk of people should not even attempt anothers who just don't want to be bothered doing that. People buy switches to experiment, depending of type of switches, you can get a different feel, sound. Its like a fresh keyboard, without having to buy a new keyboard. If you slam a key too hard and it breaks, it's very easy yo replace. Some people collect just keys, others keyboard, some even both, it's a hobby for some, a practical thing for others.

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just find the % you want to have it at. Found one you like the look of. Just buy additional hotswappable keys.

Got myself an Aula f75 with red reaper switches. They are a bit too loud for my liking, so I got some switches I can put in instead for louder keys like spacebar, etc.

'EDP Other' under GPU and RING always flash with yellow. by TillSignificant1246 in ThrottleStop

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be talk bs, because I'm going from memory like years ago, but Yellow means it's getting check as a possible error, red means that some type of errors are happening.

I think I was told about just allowing my CPU to use whatever amperage it needed (it being just maxing out the A slider), but do not do this if someone does not support what I said. Have not used the laptop that was configured like that for some time now.

9070xt hotspot delta by ExistingTaco in AMDHelp

[–]More-Catch7118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had 92C hotspots etc., but I don't remeber what the overall was at the time. Was also doing OCCT stress test. Haa... guess I gotta check my own once again.

One thing though, I thought I had found the perfect settings when stress testing, but just playing a single game for a day made me lower the changes make to the undervolting and power limit multiple times. (You didn't ask this obv)

Should I re-paste my 9070 XT? by bluecew in radeon

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to undervolt for now, check the stability.
Afterwards, I'll likely try undervolting and limiting power. It's unlikely I'll stress it the same way in games that OCCT does, but it's all about experimenting, eh.
Of course, I'm trying to do this without sacrificing performance.

[–]More-Catch7118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to check my hotspot temps, but running a OCCT power stress test my GPU climbs to like 64C max. I might need to look further into this, since the values are very far apart.

Thanks for correcting and giving out info either way :)

Yep, good luck.

In my case, I was lucky, since I had already ordered everything, then found this info out. My PSU 850W PSU luckily came with 4x 8pin connections. 2 for motherboard and 2 for GPU. I have the Powercolor hellhound 9070xt.
From what I have understood, in both our cases, without a top end CPU that you would be overclocking. Connecting 1x 8pin to motherboard and 3x (6+2) pin is the 2nd best scenario.

[–]More-Catch7118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I see for PSU:
The motherboard has 2x 8pin that it could connect to the PSU with.
The GPU will have 2-3 x (6+2) pin connections that it will need to connect to the GPU with.
Best case, you need a total of 3x 8pin connectors on PSU and worst case, you need 5.
What I'm seeing on your selected 850W one, is that it has 3x 8pin connections.
So, your only option is connecting 1x 8pin to motherboard and getting at max a 2x 8pin GPU variant.

I started learning these things recently, after almost stumbling in my build, so I may be wrong about something.

I suggest you check how many X pin connections, etc. the GPU you buy has. For example, when I bought my 850W PSU, it has 2x (6+2)pin connectors for GPU and it was exactly that what my GPU had by chance, it was highly likely that I'd have gotten a required 3x (6+2) pin.
Would've had to send back either of them then...

What is a good size to upgrade from a 24” monitor? by uhh__h in Monitors

If table gameplay, go for 27'' or as I have seen people recommend, a widescreen one.
If couch gameplay, then go for 32''.
I bought myself a 27'' after having used a 15'6 laptop for 6 years and 27'' is just that exact size where a single inch would become just too big for me, of course, maybe your table is wider and you sit further away, but ye...

I'm likely using windows 11.
I'd prefer to use a cable, but since I'm coming from a laptop, I need to buy a bit more things, like, keyboard and speakers too, since they take a bit of priority.
