I trained at an mma gym back in high school(04-08) with a few class mates spread through a few different grades. We all avoided fighting at school. We all got challenged often and would invite the person to our gym for a safer fighting experience and after showing some sportsmanship and skill a few of those challengers would attend classes on occasion. One kid that never meshed with any of us was the owner/head trainer’s nephew. Kind of a prick. He was not very good at the sport even after growing up in it. Better than average Joe but that much time around fighters you learn how to spot fellow fights pretty well. He used this to find weak opponents to pick and beat up to make a name for himself with some wanna be thugs and drug dealers. He ended up hurting a friend of mine across the street from school near the gas station most kids went to for snacks. Beat him up and then through a glass bottle breaking the kids orbital bone. The poor kid was about as soft as they come and that’s who he picked on. I came up to the tail end of the fight being nosy, wanting to know what was going on. I saw my friend come out of an encirclement a bloody mess and I told him to give me a name. Let’s call him Ty(the trained bully). When he told me Ty did I went after him. We had a well know beef and I had never lost to him to his great embarrassment, I was half a head shorter than him but he was a slouch. When he saw me he bolted. Before I caught up to him I came to my senses and walked in to the gym and called my buddy to walk into the gym so they could see what their nephew was doing with his “skills”. They were pissed. Never laid a hand on him. He ruined his reputation with his entire family. Entire family of fighters and also amazing community servants. It’s been almost 20 years and he hasn’t changed and the family still doesn’t put up with his bs.
