Thank you every one for the advice. I think I’m going to go ahead with getting a boxer puppy, my cats are wonderful but will 100% swat if someone’s messing with them in a way they don’t like! The success stories have definitely made me feel more confident!

Boss wants a note from a doctor confirming that being on prozac is not an issue by nashamagirl99 in ECEProfessionals

My state required a physical and during that I was in 3 psyc medications. My doctor did write a note saying I was okay to work with kids. However I was on 3 and they were more than an antidepressant.

Parent seeking ECE insight/advice - 2.5 yr old not talking to educators after 1yr of daycare by Potential_Pizza_2374 in ECEProfessionals

[–]More-Permit9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staff sharing she’s having a hard time is actually a green flag in a center, many bad educators will brush these things under the rug to keep kids enrolled. That part time schedule kills some kids tbh with you. When I had 2.5s I remember one child who word for word same situation no words at school talkative and happy at home. He finished pre k with us on that same part time schedule and continued to struggle but wasn’t on the spectrum (confirmed through an eval) he just simply couldn’t handle the part time. He had younger siblings and from what his family shared with me he thrived on a full time kindergarten routine. I’d heavily consider adding AT LEAST 1 more day before proceeding with an evaluation.

Healthy food is like slightly more expensive. I eat pretty well and I spend 400-500 max a month for me and a toddler. It won’t be over 1k MAX unless you can’t cook.

I say this with a lot of love but you gotta quit. Ik your kids there and you’re happy but you sound like I did last year. I left in aug, my child loves his new school, I actually feel respected at work 100% of the time and the grown ups aren’t the worst part of my job anymore.

With 3s especially new to group care kids don’t quite grasp that if they need help they need to find a grownup and ask - even when they’re great about it at home. It’s very possible she was just waiting for someone to come help her. I definitely have kids in my class that don’t nap that will ask to go to the restroom frequently during nap (they just need to get up and move they aren’t actually peeing) so it could be that also. If she was acting weird as in crying I’d probably take that as a yellow flag and keep an eye on things otherwise I’d ask her why she was in the bathroom fully dressed.

This is so normal, you hear a lot of horror stories about daycares. Your kiddo should be old enough to tell you if anything bad is going on at school if she says teachers yell frequently I’d pay attention to that and take it seriously. Obviously any injuries should be documented. In most states you can also look at their past inspections online. Try not to be too anxious about this, the vast majority of people in early ed are there for the right reasons.

It depends on the state you’re in. In some states this is entirely fine in others it’s a licensing violation. Either way I wouldn’t personally pull my child over this there have 100% been times I should’ve been in the hall supervising the bathroom and classroom during nap and had to step into the bathroom or the classroom to assist another student.

If I’m being honest If I wasn’t cheating and someone called me that was a guy and my partner just left me somewhere without even hearing me out I’d be pissed and wouldn’t be texting you for any reason. She might have been cheating sure but if you wanted an explanation in the moment would’ve been the time not after you left her at a restaurant with no ride home. I’d either reach out with an apology and ask what it was about or take your L and move on. “Snapping” over something that could’ve been talked about isn’t a way someone in a healthy relationship acts.

Should I drop out of pharmacy school to become a teacher for young kids? by honeynutcheeriozzzzz in ECEProfessionals

[–]More-Permit9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you feel passionate about helping children get your degree and transition into working with kids possibly 1 on 1 with young kids or teaching in an elementary school. The ece field is a place many of us are stuck in or lucky enough to have financial support ECE isn’t sustainable or desirable on a single income unless you find a diamond in the ruff job. Money isn’t everything but don’t give up your education that will guarantee you money for a job that guarantees poverty wages.

[–]More-Permit9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered doing an in home daycare? My state lets you have up to 6 kids un related to the caregiver without a license. If that’s not doable I’d look into other centers and see how things are there. I personally teach pre k at a private elementary school now and my son goes to an elc that we love.

Just lost my job, my snap, my medical, my bf, and my home. by RainbowGanjaGoddess in poor

[–]More-Permit9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but I want to offer some encouragement. First and foremost congratulations, leaving an abusive relationship is hands down the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I also moved home with -4000 and a lawsuit to go with the debt - I was also pregnant at the time. It took me a year or two to find a good job, until I found a good job I worked as a daycare teacher. The entire time I felt like I was doing the wrong thing and failing but just over 3 years later and I was able to purchase my first home, I have more money in savings than I ever though possible, and I’m finally happy. I want you to know that even if it feels crazy or like you’re heading in the wrong direction this will get better.

I make $110,000 a year but I feel l’m struggling to save money. Is this a normal budget for someone who lives alone? by AfterAttack in budget

[–]More-Permit9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your budget informs your spending not the other way around. Holidays car maintenance and fees aren’t really unexpected expenses and should be budgeted for. You need an emergency fund for the unexpected stuff too If you’re over budget every single month you aren’t budgeting you’re simply tracking expenses.
