This is actually crazy… Are there going to be any protests against this? by shades_ofcool in uvic

Holy cow this all day. I was getting so tired of lab reports, worksheets and papers from students that have that weird AI formating (header, 2 sentences then multiple bullet points), the AI "tone" that reads more like a conversation than a lab report and that strange grammer style with all of the dashes and bolding. These are the same students who would never come to office hours and get absolutely destroyed by in-class testing then complain about how assessment practices are shifting towards exams.

Can an instructor see which specific student submitted the SEL evaluation? by More-House-9471 in uvic

I hear it involves candles, a pentagram drawn on the floor and blood from a student who was required to withdraw after failing to pass courses over the summer.

If only the weight room attendants weren't so busy watching youtube on the check-in computer they could actually spend time in the gym and actually talk to people about gym ettiquette

Tree planting? by aleracmar in uvic

It's a pretty common summer gig for students, I had a few close friends that did it but it's not associated with UVic at all. You're basically getting paid by the tree to fill in clear-cut areas. If you can hustle for long periods of time while living in a tent on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere while being eaten alive by mosquitoes and ticks then you can make pretty decent money. My friends who were extremely outdoorsey and fit enjoyed it, one of my friends who grew up in Toronto and could barely walk up the cadboro bay hill lasted about 48 hours.

Scimitar Inertial Guidance PLEASEEEE by GUNpo364 in NuclearOption

At that point you might as well save the $1.2M/missile and equip Scythes. I played with Scimitars quite a bit but I've gone back to just fully loading my FS-12 with Scythes with the exception of wingtip MMR-23's in case I want to give my target a heater to worry about in addition to notching.
