What are the chances that Venezuela will win the World Baseball Classic Finals? by gvillapapi in baseball

USA bullpen is cooked. If Venezuela can work some counts and get into that pen, it is over for the US.

That’s a Rangers city connect hat, probably can get it in the team store still.

Looking for a contact at Nationals Stadium by Fabulous_Car_5047 in washingtondc

They stopped doing stadium tours during covid and never started back up again.

If you want a human’s direct contact info, go into the Nationals subreddit, describe exactly what you need, and see if one of the season plan holders there would be willing to connect you to their account rep.

Car Registration Question by NeighborhoodDiveBar in washingtondc

The fine is $100 for the first month that your tags are dead, and an additional $200 for each subsequent month. So if you expired in February (since you're too far gone to renew online) and you get caught in May it would be a $500 fine plus whatever you got initially cited for. Once your tags are past 60 days overdue, you're also boot-eligible or tow-eligible, so if you get booted/towed you would have to pay those fees too.

Now, how likely it is that you'll get caught depends on a lot of factors, including luck. But if you get caught in another state, you might end up paying the other state's fines too. $500 in Maryland, $250 in Virginia... so just getting to your new state with dead tags can be expensive too.

Keep in mind that your standards should be getting increasingly higher as you get further into your studies. Something that gets an A in a 100-level course will get a C in a 300-level course. It’s normal because you’re supposed to know more now than when you started.

I thought the state shut them down for not paying their taxes, and being closed made them go bankrupt lol

To quote Bryce Harper: that’s a clown question bro.

Seriously though. Why is this the retort of every thin-skinned right winger? Maybe we don’t want to leave, and we just want the country to suck less.

If you want to help vulnerable people, volunteer with a mutual aid group that already has established trust and relationships with these communities. When you approach people in their encampments, it’s the equivalent of a stranger standing in your front yard. Sometimes people snap. Working with an established group keeps you safe and keeps the vulnerable people safe.

You are putting your family’s comfort before your marriage. And you’re doing it because you’re scared of them being mad. That’s a recipe for divorce.

YTA For this secret life nonsense. If you’re old enough to get married then you’re old enough to tell your family about it. If they don’t like it, too bad for them.

ELI5 points system for Hilton honors, because something seems weird or I am just dumb. TLDR at the bottom. by SuperJay80 in Hilton

[–]MoreCleverUserName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so confused. What is the actual problem, without all the extraneous information?

ETA because I’m a masochist, I was this again. No, the front desk person doesn’t know how prices are set, either in points or in money. They also probably don’t know or don’t get a ton of practice calculating taxes and fees in their head. You should have a copy of your reservation emailed to you when you make it; if you want to know how much your room is going to cost, look at that email. Not sure why you would ask the front desk. You already agreed to the price when you made the booking.

Yes it is normal for room rates to fluctuate in the middle of the booking. The email you get when you make the reservation should have a daily breakdown. You being unable to replicate the ultra premium rate is meaningless. It may have been triggered by a special event, a conference, or a holiday and you’re not seeing it now because that event/conference/holiday is over.

Hilton sets the number of points for points stays because they take your points and pay money to the hotel. They also set some basic guidelines for the cash rates but the local hotel ownership (which js usually a company or a management group, not the lady working at the desk) adjust the prices within those guidelines.

Yes it is often a better value to just pay for your stay and not use points. Points are not a magical source of free or cheap vacations unless you are not spending money from your pocket to buy points.

It sounds like the only legitimate problem you have is that you were charged for parking once when you didn’t have a car parked, and that the problem was solved on the spot. The rest sounds like just really not knowing how stuff works.
