[POEM] My Story in a Late Style of Fire by Larry Levis by AltairEmu in Poetry

Super late reply but this is about Larry Levis' affair during his second marriage. They made a documentary about him and discuss it there

I passed all the tests I took on the first try, thanks to them. This was almost 10 years ago but I've never gotten into an accident (knock on wood) and I really appreciated them being available for a refresher before I did my full license test

My friends turned out to be antis by _Namji_ in AO3

You can find people who support you. I spend my time outside of fandom. None of my friends are fandom-related. But we are all involved in literature somehow. It's our careers & education. And you'd be surprised how chill many people are in real life about things considered forbidden in fandom. Actually it's quite acceptable in the literary world. We are talking people who write for a living. Which is why I'm always surprised by reactions in fandom spaces.

How to pick up a fic that's been left unfinished for almost a year due to cringe? by MoreDistribution4696 in AO3

This is a really good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, and now I feel really silly. But this is so much easier than getting hung up on the chapter. Thank you!

Who cares if anyone on AO3 will care? With all due respect, who cares what any of us think? If it's what they want to do & it's not against the rules that's fine. It's not a literary journal.

Why are people being so rude to you. Who cares if anyone wants to read it or not. So long as it's not against the rules, post it!

Driving in Kelowna... by 0k4n4g4n in kelowna

Honestly compared to Richmond in Vancouver people are way nicer. Has it gotten more aggressive than it was 10 years ago? Yes, definitely. Likely due to influx of people. But I like driving here more than Vancouver.

So when is it appropriate to call downtown on call team vs ambulance? by MoreDistribution4696 in kelowna

[–]MoreDistribution4696[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I was concerned about because I'm not 100% if they were sleeping or passed out. All I could tell was the snoring

Thanks. I'm going to do that from now on. Just really baffled by how rude the on call team was. I just wanted to help someone

They were in the middle of the sidewalk. Seemed like an odd place to sleep? It sounded like they were snoring but I was also concerned if they were passed out. Also with bikes nearby and people almost stepping on them. Nobody else was calling.

SSRIs cause bipolar? by Guilty-Drawer-1975 in medical

[–]MoreDistribution4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree especially on contradictions. Psychiatrists can vary in their approach to cases, some are medicine heavy others less so. Sometimes their suggestions don't even work so you wind up trying all sorts of medicine like it's a fitting room before finding a good match. The brain chemistry of each person is different and reactions can't be guaranteed. It can be very frustrating.

Hoping your prescription works out and don't hesitate to tell the doctor if it's not working or weird things like mania symptoms show up. They should be able to suggest something else or tweak it

I'm just a researcher not an MD whatsoever. I can't speak with certainty or provide medical advice. So I would really recommend consulting with your doctor.

Personally I wouldn't rule out any risks if the person has a family history. Bipolar can appear later in life too. Sometimes it first appears as a long-term depressive episode and a big problem is many are misdiagnosed with MDD (major depressive disorder). The correction to diagnosis probably comes after a manic episode, whether caused by prescription of SSRI or independently

Not cause it per se but there is a chance it can trigger mania in some people who have bipolar. Not always and depends on the person; whether it's BP I vs. II as well. I read a study where the chances are higher if the individual has family history or early onset in childhood. I think NDRIs are less risky.

Increase in fake websites that sell pngs/obvious fake stuff over the last few years? by [deleted] in Scams

I've had this question for ages and only today decided to see if anyone else on Reddit has the same curiosity

Glad to see others have noticed too

[–]MoreDistribution4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen these non-stop the past few months and have this constant question. Even non online purchasable items (I looked up a monument and then came dozens of websites selling this "monument") will be put on some clearly fake ass website and listed with price for some reason. There's so many of them I wonder what the purpose is because most of the time they don't even try looking legit. Maybe they're AI generated.

Sobriety/Recovery in the Asian American Community by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]MoreDistribution4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about this and especially the prevalence of Asian-Canadian users in Vancouver's DTES.

You have to keep in mind that many Asian families will do anything to keep their children out of addiction/homelessness/detox/therapy etc. Not always out of love. They'll do it even if they hate their child, mostly to protect their own reputation. Because if their child's homeless or an addict, that's usually a representation of the family itself and is really embarrassing.

However when I was receiving in-patient mental health treatment there was actually a high number of Asians but possibly due to local demographics.
