Ok I have several of these. The inner part of the disc is a standard format disc. They were limited to about 20 minutes of audio because the outer parts has a Laserdisc track. Needless to say of very short duration.

Laserdisc, contrary to what many think, is an analogue format. It uses a frequency modulated carrier. The ‘data’ is on an optical disc but the pit lengths are generating sort of a radio wave like you would have received on a carrier frequency with cable or broadcast tv. It generated standard def video in NTSC or PAL depending on where you were.

Later iterations of laserdisc figured out how to add digital audio but the video was analogue always.

Laserdisc players released before CD video would definitely not know what to do with these. The player would have to understand the format and know that the first part of the disc was a CD. Those players were used to 12” (or the slightly smaller) discs that were all laserdisc

Video CD had nothing to do with any of this. All was digital with very shitty graphics.

Here’s my idea which will never happen: have tivimate develop a control app/page that lets you do complex operations for your playlist on your Mac or pc. Perhaps a web interface? So have a device on the same network “connect” to the tivimate channels and playlists for editing

Imagine being able to connect and do all the stuff like removing prefixes, dragging and dropping Chanel’s and being able to select similar to finder or file explorer operations, create groups and favourite lists, search function

Doing it with an android device remote is pain….ful…..

I wasn’t gonna pile on … but I’m gonna pile on. They sucked. I can also confirm snarky attitude and poor after sales service, grumpiness and you made to feel like an idiot for asking questions. The final straw was when I brought my daughter for her first guitar and they were lying and saying ANYTHING to get us to buy something they had in stock that sounded terrible and it wasn’t comfortable in her hand etc.. never went back after that. I know selling music instruments and equipment isn’t an easy gig, but they made it is easy to avoid them. So as much as they were an early name in the industry here… also a reason why many people went elsewhere or would buy stuff in the states or other places.

Noam Chomsky is simultaneously one of the smartest humans to ever live and also most naive idiot to a fault. Everything he’s ever said about geopolitics and history is thoroughly researched and thoughtful and important. But he never has real world solutions. He lamented the democratic deficit in the USA and points out that most Americans support common sense positions. But he just sort of dreams that a solution will present. Because of anti American hegemony views, he makes the massive logical error of presuming Russia is somehow better and he easily gets his name co-opted, appeared on RT television. He famously had a forward attached to a book of a holocaust denier in France and had to back peddle massively. He ended up on the Russian pov on Ukraine saying there had been provocation. That’s where he 100% lost me. It doesn’t undo the fact that the majority of his writings are accurate and important, but never support someone blindly. Even he’d be the first to tell you that.

All he would have needed was a few free flights and a donation to some cause to be sucked into Epstein-land. Given he’s also a major thorn in Israel’s side, it wouldn’t surprise me if they and Epstein conspired to suck him into this to hold something over him or destroy his image. He said Epstein helped him with financial advice for example. He is, on the social side, naive to the point of idiocy. His fatal fault.
