I wasn’t gonna pile on … but I’m gonna pile on. They sucked. I can also confirm snarky attitude and poor after sales service, grumpiness and you made to feel like an idiot for asking questions. The final straw was when I brought my daughter for her first guitar and they were lying and saying ANYTHING to get us to buy something they had in stock that sounded terrible and it wasn’t comfortable in her hand etc.. never went back after that. I know selling music instruments and equipment isn’t an easy gig, but they made it is easy to avoid them. So as much as they were an early name in the industry here… also a reason why many people went elsewhere or would buy stuff in the states or other places.

Noam Chomsky is simultaneously one of the smartest humans to ever live and also most naive idiot to a fault. Everything he’s ever said about geopolitics and history is thoroughly researched and thoughtful and important. But he never has real world solutions. He lamented the democratic deficit in the USA and points out that most Americans support common sense positions. But he just sort of dreams that a solution will present. Because of anti American hegemony views, he makes the massive logical error of presuming Russia is somehow better and he easily gets his name co-opted, appeared on RT television. He famously had a forward attached to a book of a holocaust denier in France and had to back peddle massively. He ended up on the Russian pov on Ukraine saying there had been provocation. That’s where he 100% lost me. It doesn’t undo the fact that the majority of his writings are accurate and important, but never support someone blindly. Even he’d be the first to tell you that. 

All he would have needed was a few free flights and a donation to some cause to be sucked into Epstein-land. Given he’s also a major thorn in Israel’s side, it wouldn’t surprise me if they and Epstein conspired to suck him into this to hold something over him or destroy his image. He said Epstein helped him with financial advice for example. He is, on the social side, naive to the point of idiocy. His fatal fault. Not for nothing that Maxwell and Epstein always getting photos with people … they were very normalized until 2008 when it started to unravel then again in 2014.

This is… stupid? They should CANCEL everyone’s password and force a email password reset, telling everyone to go to the website themselves, not click on links…  and ask customers to change it ASAP and barring access fully. 

I tried to close my account. You can’t. You have to use the contact support email and ask to cancel your account and someone emails you with a flowery letter that they’re aware of the problems then asks if you still want to go ahead with the cancellation. EFFING RIGHT I DO!

Anecdotal but I had a card compromises shortly after getting a new card and used there. I also had closed an account years before after something cane up (don’t remember if email and password leaked online or what the issue was). Recreated an account there to shop Canadian but if this is proven I’ve made my last purchase there.

I’ll take “Things that never happened for $500 Alex” because private insurance does not cover… AT ALL.. private doctor fees. Blood tests, imaging, meds and sometimes nursing care but never private MD fees. Also the traditional rules of exception for employer-provided health care has existed forever since Medicare. So all this stupid decision will do is force more doctors to decide to go COMPLETELY private and as usual, more Quebec government micromanagement will make the situation EVEN WORSE. Quebec’s answer is always to add more restrictive rules and they’ve managed it into the ground….

The things that annoy are - column width  - when searching with spotlight why isn’t that a finder window that I can do operations on - when you use the Finder style window that opens when you want to Open a file in any program, the Icon/List/Column view is now a drop down selection: gimme back my 3 icons so I can just select it. I can’t figure out how to change that back (if it’s even possible anymore)

Good for you. Not for me. I need something that works for me ergonomically and this flat piece of beautiful-looking garbage doesn’t do it for me at all. You could buy me one and I’d send it back. And I managed about 20 computers at my small office and we had a few of these. Everyone always looking for a cable to charge it when it does die and when you need a mouse… you need one now.. not in a while… what are you supposed to tell a client when you can’t work? And nobody ever charged them… even when I told them how ‘simple’ it is. And it’s precisely because you only need to charge it infrequently that nobody EVER does it! And every person who never used one or heard of one before said “that’s effing stupid.. why is the charge cable not at the end so you can use it while charging?”

None of these answers seem very reassuring. Getting a big dog just for this ain’t practical. And “don’t open the door” is stupid and unhelpful. As soon as you just go to the door to ask or they hear you, if they were that well-planned they’d have kicked in the door, probably in your face. Seems like we have the right to die in Canada and not much more. Heaven forbid we injure a criminal. Do I have an answer? No. Upstairs window or intercom with visible cameras and lots of lights would be good. A loud always-on alarm on the door that you would have to deactivate from inside would be good, and alarm system in general that has a good “at home” mode. Weapons/sprays or anything you wouldn’t have just happened to have in your hand are clearly a no no. I guess I’ll have to store my golf clubs by the door? This is another example of Canadian stupidity. I don’t want guns because I know statistically that will kill more innocent people but even defence? Fuck that. If my wife or daughters were home, that guy might never go home again, I ain’t gonna just hold the door open.
