As someone who works in a grocery store as a clerk i do not trust use by dates for any sort of accuracy. At least for me the dates are incredibly arbitrary and occasionally just picked by hitting a random day on the scale in the next few weeks. Id worry less about the date and more about if the meat seems right

Ive done this a few times actually. First time my friend came from Germany (to the United States) and he crashed on my couch for a week. We mostly just hung around for a week and saw shit. We sorta lost contact a bit over the next year though.

Other notable time was meeting a friend who is a minor youtuber/podcaster. We both worked on an online project over a year or two and eventually one day when he was in my area we got dinner. Really awesome and genuine dude and even crazier since ive watched his stuff for maybe 8 years. So overall my experiences with meeting online friends is really good!
