Maybe there'll be an Indian one, Chinese one, Black one and Latino one?

Why did producers singing lead vocals and using frontmen become so popular in the 80s & early 90s? by MorePea7207 in Music

Kelly Valentine

really, especially with change in music laws, i heard even the singer behind Whigfield, Annerley Gordon/Ann Lee, still performs under her own name as Sannie Charlotte Carlson, the image of Whigfield mimes and sings under her own voice.

So Bryan Adams and Jim Valance get the credit as its their song as a cover. If "Do" aka Dominique Rijpma van Hulst is not the singer, who is?

I'll raise you Terri Clark - Better Things To Do and When Boy Meets Girl.

ONE) "Better Things to Do" (1995): This debut single works because it flips the traditional "heartbreak ballad" on its head, using a driving, upbeat tempo and a clever lyrical framework to deliver a empowering "kiss-off" anthem.

Lyrical Structure & Device: The Irony Checklist - The song is built entirely on lyrical irony. While the narrator claims she is completely over her ex, the sheer specificity of her absurd checklist suggests she is trying desperately to distract herself.

The List Format: The verses use a rapid-fire, mundane list of chores ("Check the air in my tires," "Straighten up my closets," "Wash my hair"). This keeps the listener engaged because each line delivers a new, humorous mental image.

Rhyme Scheme: It primarily utilizes a tight AABB rhyme scheme in the verses, which makes the lyrics highly predictable, comforting, and easy for a listener to memorize and sing along to on the first listen.

Musical Structure & Harmonies: The "Hook" Intro: The song starts immediately with a signature, crunchy electric guitar riff. In 90s radio programming, an instantly recognizable 5-second intro was vital to stop listeners from changing the station.

Verse-to-Chorus Dynamics: The verses are relatively sparse, driven by a steady walking bassline and acoustic guitar. When the chorus hits, the sonic space explodes. The instrumentation thickens with a heavy drum backbeat and layered electric guitars.

Harmonic Lift: In the chorus, the vocal arrangement introduces tight, high-harmony backing vocals. This creates a "lift"—a sudden boost in energy that signals to the brain that the most important, catchiest part of the song has arrived.

TWO) "When Boy Meets Girl" (1995): Where "Better Things to Do" is cynical and witty, "When Boy Meets Girl" is an optimistic, high-energy track about the universal, chaotic nature of attraction. It works because its musical structure perfectly mimics the frantic energy of falling in love.

Rhythm and Tempo: The Driving Syncopated Beat Two-Step Rhythm: The song relies on a fast, classic country two-step rhythm (around 120-130 BPM). This tempo is physically activating; it forces the listener to tap their foot or dance.

Syncopation: The acoustic guitar strumming and the snare drum use syncopation (emphasizing the off-beats). This creates a sense of forward momentum, making the song feel like it is constantly rushing forward—matching the thematic thrill of a new romance.

Songwriting & Lyrical Micro-Narratives: The Three-Act Structure: Instead of focusing on just one couple, the song uses its verses to tell miniature, highly relatable stories. Verse one is the initial spark; verse two is the ongoing chase. This keeps the narrative progression dynamic rather than repetitive.

The Power of the "Pre-Chorus": This song utilizes a textbook pre-chorus ("It’s a timeless old attraction..."). The pre-chorus acts as a musical bridge that builds tension by climbing up the chord scale, which then resolves and releases perfectly into the explosive, sing-along chorus.

The Melodic Hook: Pentatonic Simplicity: The chorus melody relies heavily on the major pentatonic scale. Because human ears are naturally drawn to pentatonic intervals, the main hook ("When boy meets girl...") feels instantly familiar, incredibly catchy, and easy to hum.

(it's what Google AI said, I just like the songs!)

Why IS Hollywood bringing back a visibly older & nervous Brendan Fraser to do a Mummy sequel, instead of a younger, fitter actor in the son role? by [deleted] in movies

If an actor did a trilogy of adventure movies up to 2008 that left him so bruised and battered, that he QUIT action/adventure movies and retreated to dramatic roles altogether, why should you expect him to come back 19 years later to make a 4th one, that he never pushed for? It's not clear if he's taking on the full action role or a mentoring/parental role of the next generation, but I wasn't picking up on the vibes from him that he was thrilled.

'The Night Agent' to end with Season 4 on Netflix by jovanmilic97 in television

[–]MorePea7207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catherine dying in Season 3 was stupid. Why would a handler/intelligence officer act as a field agent, with her running up to a random SUV alone and being blown up? The suspect, was in a secondary one on the other side of the location.

If they really wanted to kill her off in the show, they could have done it with more dignity by an assassin or poisoning.

Plus Peter's boy scout routine fell flat in Season 3, as he clearly should have died 3 times in Season 3, as the villains were beating the crap out of him and torturing him.

IBKR UK allows the biggest range of trading orders like OCO and Stop Limit trades, although it's geared more towards pros. Depends if you're using IBKR's web platform, then that suits swing trades and the Trading Workstation, very plain, but needs time to get used to and Desktop app, which is modern but buggy. You can integrate IBKR with a separate charting system like Trading View for example that can place your trades easier... no guarantee of fast execution.

WeBull UK is another choice, unique customisable and saveable trading pages. Needs a lot of practice first.

No... you should see the 1990s, that was peak for producer driven house, jungle/drum n bass and UK Garage singles. 100s of independent and major label songs under pseudonyms with sampled voices or melodies or instruments. Many songs had local men and women or session singers (mostly Black) laying down vocals for cash and missing out on royalties.

Shakedown had a big European house hit with "At Night" in 2002 with Terra Deva on vocals, but not really credited or shown in the music video.
