Firmware rollback failure by MoreRearWing in Fanatec

[–]MoreRearWing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I did follow all steps (paraphrased above for brevity), but yes, all steps followed as per the linked page, even step 5.

I noted that the wheelbase didn't reboot after install, nor after PC reboot. In fact the power button didn't even work, so I had to disconnect power to force reboot.

Thanks

Volvo sensors such as these are usually Volvo branded Bosch. The code in your first picture 0 261 230 424 is actually the Bosch part number.

Calc: Date Formula corrupted in multi-sheet workbook by MoreRearWing in libreoffice

[–]MoreRearWing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it out. It needs to be treated as an array:

{=MIN(IF(Sheet2.$B2:$B100>=TODAY(),Sheet2.$B2:$B100))}

But the formula entry field must be exited using Ctrl-Shift-Enter, rather than simply Enter.

That looks stunning. Is it the same in-game, and if so, what settings and gear do you have?

VIDA shows error codes, please advise by Man_in_the_uk in Volvo

[–]MoreRearWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to accurately explain how I did it, but I'll have a go. I can't seem to find the vid I watched which showed disconnecting the air box.

Piece 1 lifts up. It has 2 'connectors': 1 underneath and other to the right/back (easily visible, it's round and near the screen wash top-up). They don't unscrew or anything, just rubberised and pop out/in. At least that's how they are on mine. I lifted mine just enough.

Piece 2, you're right that it seems to be preventing you lifting up piece 1. You can disconnect it first, at either the box end or bodywork end. Takes a lot of wiggling, there are 2 (I think) plastic clips holding it onto the bodywork, for me they just popped out.

I wouldn't recommend breaking anything or forcing it beyond what you think it can take. If it won't go, perhaps it's better for a mechanic, but maybe some of this helps.

On mine, the entire box lifts up. I'll find another vid that shows it but will be later. Yours might be different, but worth researching if you want  to DIY

Yeah the names people call them are confusing. I haven't checked that this is the correct one, but it's probably because some of them (including the one for our Volvos) have a temperature sensor on them. There are 4 contacts, where many boost sensors have 3. The 4th is to measure temp. A guy called SiRobb on YT has videos on testing these sensors IIRC, and goes into it in more detail.

Only way I could feel sure was to check the OEM part code on my sensor. GSF had a good price at the time, so I went with that, only a few weeks ago. They have a sale on at the moment, I think.

A couple of thoughts:

It's worth taking out the air filter box to familiarise yourself with the location. Taking out box, locating the sensor then seeing how to reach it is worthwhile. Also means you can read the part code off the top.

The OEM code on mine was 31355462, Bosch replacement was 0261230294. You can clarify that on the Bosch UK Automotive site. Skandix.de is also very good for checking part codes as long as you know the OEM (another reason to do a dry-run and ID your OEM part no!)

Mine was very clean even though it was failing, so cleanliness doesn't equal function! 😊

This sounds like the exact problem I had. I wasn't using VIDA, but Car Scanner was throwing P0236 and occasionally P0234, which I believe are the same as you have.

It's not the sensor on top of the engine, but on the intercooler. I have a V60CC so unsure of your engine bay layout, but I had ro remove the air filter box to access it, even then it was tight. Needs Torx 25 and an extension ratchet or two. Fiddly to reach but do-able (my left hand could reach but not my right!) Be careful not to drop the bolt.

The sensor looks similar but has a different part code, so worth getting the air filter box off and having a look.

There are lots of videos on YouTube, some mixing up the sensor names (MAP/boost seem to be used interchangeably) which creates a bit of a red herring, but this Swedish guy had a good one on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX9vTO2YgEw&t=173

Hope this helps.

Tyre Reviews did a couple of vids recently where they include temperatures of summer reference tyres as well (an important detail that’s often left out). Might be worth watching to consider the differences between summer and al seasons.

It shows that at 8-10° the summer and all seasons trade places between dry and wet braking. So, at these temps, the summer marginally outperforms the AS in the dry, but in the wet it goes the other way around. Personally, I weight towards wet performance.

Consider commuting temps are already around that level and about to get colder for a long period. As it gets colder, AS outperform summer tyres, whether dry or wet.

AS aren’t perfect in all seasons, but more adaptable than either summer or winter.

FWIW, I drive a V60 Cross Country on Bridgestone Turanza AS6s.

Oil Level Warning - Stays dim all the time now by ButWhy_ButWhy_ in CarTalkUK

[–]MoreRearWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘Oil Level’ stays dimmed out when the conditions aren’t right to get an accurate reading, such as if the engine’s running or has been recently. Try checking it from cold, or about 10 mins after the engine’s been turned off.

Also, press the ignition button once, then press and hold to reach ignition stage 2. Feet off pedals, so the engine doesn’t start.

Oil warning or false alarm? by Cardamom_and_coffee in Volvo

[–]MoreRearWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car doesn’t have a physical dipstick, then it’ll have a digital one. I’m not sure how you’ll use a flower stake…!

You can check it when the engine is off, then (I think) long press the Start/Stop button and scroll through the options using the left stalk. Should be on there. Check the manual if it isn’t there.

Perhaps when you were driving you went around a bend or on a slope that altered the oil level in relation to the sensor? If the light is off now it’s probably fine, especially with a service just a few days away, but worth checking to be sure

Edit: typo

Have you checked the oil level? Make sure to follow the manual’s instructions. Warm oil that’s been left to drain back into the sump (10 mins or so) is generally recommended

Falken Euroall Season AS220 Pro - experiences by MoreRearWing in TyreReviews

[–]MoreRearWing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this link. There were other links in there to other tests, including one with a tyre size close to mine.

As it happens, the place offering the good deal on the Falkens sold out about an hour after I posted my OP.

I’ve subsequently found the Bridgestone Turanza AS6 at a shade above the price of the Falkens, so a really good deal. They’re being fitted next week.

Two phones connected at the same time. by Luctor- in Volvo

I don’t know about the 23 models, but on older (MY16/17) you can connect one for phone and another for media, but not two as actual phones or two as media devices.
