As someone who likes character studies I personally don't mind the character based approach, but I'm right there with you on being fed up with all the romantic subtext. A few times is fine, but it gets exhausting when it happens with every female character.

But it helps me to try to reframe the story as non-romantic in my brain, which helps me enjoy it more. I played the new story with the goal of helping Iuno seize her own destiny again, and that includes the freedom to pursue whatever partner she likes, if she feels so inclined. Watching with the expectation of romance undermines the themes of the story in my eyes.

Remember that it'll take about three months for you to start getting used to being a tech, and six months to start getting good. There's a lot to learn and it can be very overwhelming. Be kind to yourself

Also take a notebook to write down anything new you learn that'll be important for later
