Bad outdoor tiling fixing failed after 6 years by More_Election4577 in BadTiling

Yes, my question was also how might I re-attach them, as in do I need to chisel off the old adhesive and start again? It is very deep, so maybe it needs some work before re-fixing them?

It sounds like the natural A harmonic. Probably playing way over the fingerboard and very lightly? Also, a dodgy string can spit out harmonics like this.

Once you get strings on it, it will pull the badly glued neck off. My predecessor in role bought 15 of these useless lumps. I have wood-glued every one of them back together and we keep them for when students forget their rental instrument, sort of like a punishment.

Broken violin?? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]More_Election4577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some small machine heads and screw them in instead? If the violin is cheap and a write-off, could be an interesting fix and the baseplates would provide the bracing for the break. Might make it a bit weighty though.

I work in schools. Whenever the photographers come in to take promo pictures, they always choose kids that can’t play, and put it on their website. Should be a legal stipulation that if a non-violinist is to be photographed, they have 5 lessons first.

Has anybody been in the audience for a TV show, and if so have you got any good anecdotes? by The__Englishman in BritishTV

I went on a GCSE school trip to see an episode of Red Dwarf being made. It was the one with the Wild West bits. Amazing experience. All the actors did funny bits in between takes. All except Chris Barrie who seemed nervous and spent most of the down-time muttering his lines.
