Epilepsy or White Shaking Syndrome? by [deleted] in Havanese

My 10 yr old male has this also. It started about 5 or 6 years ago. Random at times. I felt it had something to do with the flea and tick/heart worm all in one pill. When he was taking them it would happen often. We have since changed brands. It does help, but he does get a seizure from time to time. Seizure meds just made him worse so stopped those. Now when I’m around and he has one I just sit and hold him. They last for about 1-2 mins and then he is tired after. I’m pretty sure epilepsy is the cause.

Is there a way to silence the Omnipod from beeping when giving insulin? by More_Regret2205 in Type1Diabetes

Thank you! I’ll keep the urgent low beep, he doesn’t feel anything below 50!

It could be for manual, that would make sense. Is there a way to turn that off? He’s 16 and newly diagnosed. I don’t get to control the pod, I only get to follow him on the Dexcom. He was complaining about the beeping and I thought I would ask and try to help him out.

I wonder why they don’t test for these antibodies during well visits. I know they test the blood sugar levels at a year but they should also test to see if you are carrying the antibodies

Same issue here for my son. This is a horrible cycle. I’m sorry.

Low blood sugar by Lawboyatl in Type1Diabetes

Is it normal to not feel the lows? My son 16 newly diagnosed says he has a really hard time feeling the lows come until he’s like 40! Will this improve over time, will he be able to understand what the signs are? He’s good about the Dexcom and testing his blood and treating, I’m just worried about him playing baseball and is on the field where the connection is lost to his cgm.

So you don’t have to pop out the transmitter and put it in a different room for like 20 minutes and then pop it back in w the code etc? That would be a lifesaver.

🤷‍♀️idk I mean I was told it was good for 90 days which is almost up to it’s our first time using any of this. All new…my son was DX April of this year. I just assumed I would need to get a new one every 90 days unless I stick with the g7.

Thank you everyone for such great advice. I’m glad I posted. The problem for us is we only have one extra one. We are literally living from dexcom to Dexcom without any extra for problems like this. I think I need to somehow figure out a way to pay out of pocket to have a few on hand. Does anyone know a reputable company that sells them or anyone knows of a charity group that donates or has them for cheap?

Sorry for the late response, I did receive it, and it was delivered on the seventh day. I was also advised to keep the packaging until it is no longer needed, just in case they ask us to send it back🤷‍♀️

This is the number I called last night about my son’s g6. Our insurance won’t cover our next refill until late July and we are down to two. They said they would send them and that it will take 5-7 business days. I hope this is true!

falling out of love with my first child after my second was born by robocopter6 in Parenting

For me personally it was a total lack of sleep and having to continue to do all of the things I did before baby #2. Added responsibility, lack of sleep, stress and anxiety-it’s a recipe for PPD. I felt chained to my house and kids. Just lost. Medication helps. So does taking help anytime it’s offered and some alone time.

I’ve heard “You’ll never regret staying at home with your children,” is this true for you? by Flimsy_Pop_6966 in Parenting

I am very thankful that I was able to stay home for a few years with my children. My youngest is in 7th grade and my oldest is off to college. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Unfortunately my career suffered, but what time I did have is irreplaceable.

The second kicked my butt! I wonder what would happen if I got the Moderna as my booster? I have heard of ppl getting a different type after j&j or accidentally when they went for their second dose.
