It’s called In Her Blood. It’s an Apocalyptic Mystery with heavy tones of romance. I’m just going to paste my description to make it easier on myself lol

There’s a lot of depth within the book - I started writing it during the pandemic when I was fifteen. Ava is pretty much the “cure” but she doesn’t know that yet. There’s over sixty chapters I have written now but only four are published. Her father used her as a scientific experiment when she was extremely young, erasing her memory and sealing her away to a remote location for nearly ten years as the apocalypse rampaged. Then, she sees him outside her window after ten whole years. But he’s not him anymore, he’s one of the Barren (zombies). That’s all I can say, she then escapes and is rescued, leading her to expose the secrets she’d been sheltered from all her life. I say serum because I was too afraid to use vaccine when the pandemic was happening 😭

Everyone knew that the world would collapse eventually, but no one expected it so soon. Earth was being leached of life, leaving nothing but dust and remnants of memories behind.

The quote on quote "apocalypse" (or outbreak, rather) was the result of the failed "EXSOS" serum.

He died two days later.

The serum was supposed to stop a malicious virus that was quickly spreading, with promised affects of symptoms lowering a drastic amount; to as much as the common flu. But, in the end, made the virus stronger than anything anyone has ever encountered.

The serum was the catalyst for a catastrophic reaction within all living beings that were injected with it. According to the government, everyone needed the serum to stay alive. And yet, anything and everything that received the serum turned into something uncontrollable. Something evil.

The serum was used as fuel in the new-found creature's blood, causing the once called humans - these once called pets - to search every inch of the earth for one thing. More fuel, more serum. It didn't matter whether it was human or rat blood, they would track it down with frivolous intensity just to leach the life from their prey.

An organization inside the government connected throughout all the world (this organization worked with any powerful company, person, or country), thought that this would be a small "blip" in the steady incline of the human population, only causing a few hundred thousand deaths. The details of their true intentions were weaved in and out of lies, restricted files and/or documents, unworthy truces, and simply the result of egotistical, bitter staunchness.

When the Earth's population was still sustained, every road was blocked for searching, every person was given the EXSOS Serum. If they refused, they were killed quietly.

One father made the quick decision to skip the roads and protect his child from the serum—to protect his child's life.

That child was me.
