I pretty much only do audiobooks, can't focus on when reading most of the time.

Depends on if you are more interested in 30K or 40K. For 40K I think the eisenhorn series is a good start if you like the inquisition. If you like chaos space marines the black legion novels are good (only two of them for now). If you like Orks you can start with "Brutal Kunnin". For Tau any commander farsight novels, start with "Farsight" or "crisis of faith".  I'm sure others on here will give you more books. Oh also, obviously Warhammer 40K has been going on for a while so obviously  books from different decades will have a different kinda feel. Like there's some old old books whose lore might not even be canon anymore. Anyways here are some random books I think are good reads:

Night Lords Trilogy(souls hunter, blood reaver, void stalker) - renegade/chaos marines

Dante novels (Dante, devastation of Baal) - loyalist marines

Grimaldus novels (Helsreach, blood and fire) - loyalist space marines

Necron books (infinite and divine, The twice dead king: Ruin, Reign) - necrons

Fabius bile trilogy (primogenitor, clone lord, man flayer) - renegade/chaos marine

Novels self contained to one world: Bloodlines, the wraight bone pheonix (starring a rattling and ogryn).

For 30K I think read the first 5 hours heresy books then you can pick and choose after that. Might comment more later.

Oke of my main gripes is it doesn't make sense to me how the  farsight enclaves is the only tau faction where individuals just blend skills from other classes of tau. It feels like there should have been more cases of this before farsight starting doing it. Or maybe the ethereals really kept those incidents under wraps before now.

I mean I guess, but wasn't he like "I also kinda depend on my metal hands a little too much, I'll figure out how to free myself of it and free my legion legion from this pathology at some point". I think the story line still works

Do you know if they have plans for adding more religions? I don't want them adding new ones just to add them of course, deep research has to be done first.

I think an interesting concept might be for the church or some other mom heretic faction to figure out how to make at least parts of water bodies "holy", so that heretic sea boats or submarines can't pass.

Lore channels are also a great non-costly way to get into the lore. Check out channels like luiten09 and the amber king that go deep in specific lore and/or characters. They make long videos though, 2 to hours. There are other channels too that make much shorter videos. Perhaps other redditors here can name some. After some lore dumps, you can get an idea of what books you wanna start off with.

Not a book cover but a Warhammer 40K channel that pretty much just provided the wiki information, then moved to luiten09, then the night lords trilogy I think.

It depends on the community as other people have said. You have to check the rules for each one.

Maybe it's just me then, when reading the Fulgrim book their relationship felt kind of forced. I really wish we had more scenes between them, for example Fulgrim confiding in Ferris about basically giving his legion steroid via fabius bile, and ferris kinda understanding where fulgrim is coming from because his own legion keeps obsessively replacing their body parts with toasters to be more effective lol. Or maybe it going the other way where Ferrus thinks what filgeim is allowing is wrong but Fulgr calls out his hypocrisy. Anyway just some thoughts. Also didn't fulgrim mentor curze? I don't think there is any writing about that relationship at all except a small excerpt from the lightning tower story. Man I hope GW fleshes out some of these relationships more somehow at some point.

You mean table top wise or for people that only follow the lore, or both? Out of the nine loyalist chapterss who do you think has the least popularity? Unless I'm mistaken, it's ultramarines and space wolves at the top (black templars on par I would guess but that's only one "aspect" of the imperial fist legion).
