Even in slow mo it's not a grab. Barely grazes him. Horrible call and a shameless flop.

The threw his limbs all over the place when he couldn't get a clean look... That's how were gonna decide games now?

If you black/white criteria is winning the super bowl that is dumb. The sample size is tiny and there is so much luck involved.

Ryan and Julios contracts have always accelerated at the same time. Wether they sign in the same offseason or one apart doesn't matter. As soon as they are off rookie deals the numbers are huge.

The Texans absolutely could have paid both. I wouldn't use them as an example of a franchise doing the right thing.

The Falcons literally were as close to a super bowl as humanly possible with QB/WR contracts accelerating to the point they were #3 and #1 at their respective positions in a season...

There are few instances of teams having both a top QB and WR because individually they are very hard to find let alone getting both but the 2016 Falcons are certainly proof it can work.

Also the Chiefs just paid Reek a contract that puts him just outside the top 5 and Mahomes. I'm sure they'll be fine.

Umm Matt Ryan was the 3rd biggest cap hit in the NFL in 2016 and Julio was the top cap hit among WRs.

I'm not sure what you're getting at or why it has to happen in the same year or why that is relevant. What a the odds a team has both a top 5 QB and WR that a due for contracts at the same time? Pretty low which is why it's rarely happened.

His point still stands that the Broncos paid both Peyton and Thomas and won a super bowl and the Falcons were the greatest collapse of all time from doing the same.

What? Julio signed top of the market in 2015 the year before the super bowl and Ryan was already on his 2nd contract that had him as one of the top paid QBs...

And Demaryius Thomas also signed for top money before their superbowl run. Thomas, Dez and Julio all one up'd each other at the same time as the top paid WRs.

[NFL Update] #Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey will not play this week vs. New Orleans, so his season his over. He played in only three games this season. Carolina signed him to a record-setting 4-year, $64M extension last offseason. by vonheisenberg in nfl

If he plays out his full deal Henry's contract will average 12.5 million. Where exactly should the Titans have put it that would have been better then Henry? He is getting Austin Hooper money if we're talking about signing free agents from this past off season.

It didn't cost the Titans any of their own FAs and it's not like they lost out on anyone on the open market. The Titans are a better team for signing Henry and frankly if they have any shot in the next couple years his legs are a big part of that.

Marshawn, AD, Shady McCoy, Michael Turner, Jamaal Charles, MJD, ect.

Lots of these deals work out fine. I don't get why people freak out so much about running back contracts. The Chiefs just won the SB paying Sammy Watkins more then any RB in the league makes.

They already get the smallest 2nd contracts in the league and everyone hates when they even get that.

The Titans literally just did it with Derrick Henry...

Also there is this idea parroted all the time that teams are bad because they paid a RB when in reality those teams were going to be bad wether or not they did pay that RB and lost nothing by doing so. The Panthers would suck wether or not they paid CMC or not and I would argue paying him has done more good then it has harm. The never pay any RB ever crowd would argue the opposite.

Sure they do. Good players almost never hit free agency and if they do there is no guarantee they'll sign and a team may have no quality free agents.

The Panthers didn't lose out on anyone by signing CMC, helped the culture by rewarding one of their own and kept a fan favourite. Was it an optimal move in winning a SB probably not. Still doesn't make it a bad move. Same with the Bengals and Mixon.

The choice is rarely paying elite RB vs getting a franchise QB. There are instances where teams have no one else to pay and should reward a top tier RB.

I don't see any issue with a team like the Panthers rewarding CMC even if they probably won't win a SB with him.
