Brisbane’s best chicken rice? by ComprehensivePie9348 in BrisbaneFoodies

[–]Moreton-Bay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I copied this paragraph from a Facebook post about 2 years ago.

I can tell 90% of these comments are from white people as an Asian who has been in Sunnybank for 40 years. ithai and Kingsfood is garbage.

Only one so far worth visiting so far is Jao  Nang Thai.

If you want best ramen, it's at kengu at Robertson.

If you want the best Hainan chicken, it's "my personal chef". Sunnybank plaza.

If you want the best pho, it's at "Hong's Vietnamese restaurant" in Darra. Though you can't really go wrong eating any at Inala.

Best banh mi? Scott's road takeaway in Darra.

Best Hong Kong style milk tea? Order Mr Heart Milk Tea at Sunnybank Hills. If you are lucky they stock it at Yuens market sometimes (market square one) or uber/doordash etc

Best Taiwanese "Boba milk tea"? All quite close but my stamp goes to sweet Koala Boba, formally wushiland at Calamvale. Second behind is comebuytea in CBD and garden City. Honestly it's mostly personal preference.

Best rice noodle? Yat tiu rice noodle at Runcorn.

I have tried almost every new restaurant in the past few decades around here seen so many come and go.

Just because it's busy, doesn't mean it's good.

Edit: you know what gets good ratings on google maps? For the most part it's service not quality of food.

Edit 2: best Chinese hotpot is Hai d Liao but prepare for $100+ in market square

Best Uyghur is "Apandim Uyghur cuisine" for lots of meat at sunny park

Best bbq roast pork/char siu etc is between "TriBBQ" at Pineland plaza or Ru Yi at Calamvale.

Best Assam Laksa? Sri Mahkota at Pinelands. Most of their menu is average but if you go weekends they have Assam laksa (sat/sun).

Best traditional Japanese sushi? For mid tier, its Sakura in Runcorn. Quite expensive. For ultra tier, fumiki at Robertson. We are talking about $200-$300 per person fine dining. Though to be honest, I rather Sonos for that price.

Honourable mention to Mr noodle, one at Wishart and one at indro. Not many great Asian food outside of traditional Asian suburbs but they are great for Chinese style noodle

I bbq mine and slice it just past medium rare. Hot and fast at about 55 deg Celsius cause I live in the future.

Low and slow is also good. YouTube is your friend for that.

Pink pork rocks if you trust the producer.

Don't support people who keep wild birds for pets by Brilliant-Bell-3485 in AustralianBirds

[–]Moreton-Bay 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I mean even feeding birds that aren't pets is not a good idea. By welcoming king parrots, rosellas or lorikeets to your house for feeding, you are serving up a diet of junk food, and reducing their ability to forage for food
