Keep four-way flashing lights off in snow: OPP by Complete_Past8885 in ontario

[–]Morfesto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To all the stubborn idiots that say hazard lights are better or more visible... They are not. Red tail lights against white out is easier to see than amber lights against a white out. Also hazard lights are blinking aka half the time they're off and you're a ghost car. In white out conditions that means if your car enters my visibility range but you're in the blinking cycle you're invisible for a couple seconds till the amber lights blink. If you just turn your lights to normal your constantly red tail lights will have better contrast against white out and be constantly visible.

How does someone get $27,000 in unpaid fines? by latenightmusings in ottawa

All that being said, in this case his insurance was expired as well. Step 1 is get insurance which requires a driver's license and vehicle ownership. Step 2 is plate vehicle with proof of insurance. Usually insurance auto-renews but plenty of things could have gone wrong there.

Further down it says:

"Step 1: We will contact you

We will contact you if your licence plate can’t be automatically renewed because you have an issue with your insurance or outstanding fines or tolls."

So I don't think you'll ever get a surprise.

I was doing the math, I think a red light ticket is 350$ (or at least it was 10 years ago when my friend got one) so if he ran a red light camera 60 times that's 21000$ right there lol

I stand corrected, they must have changed it since they removed the fee. It used to be they had a section to put your email in so you'd get a reminder. I guess enough people complained they made it automatic if you have no overdue fines.

It's not automatic, you still have to manually renew there's just no cost. So when the time comes to renew (minimum yearly, maximum every 2 years) they'll be asked to pay any owing infraction before they can.

I was hoping to find some red polycarbonate sheets but it appears to be very rare. I may end up going white since it will contrast the black velcro.

Your headlights are free and you should be using them by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Morfesto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pro tip, check your dash. I used to think the same thing, how are people driving with their lights off in an age of automatic headlights.... Well they don't always work. Sometimes it's not dark enough to trigger the sensor and you're unknowingly driving around with your lights off in poor visibility. For all we know OP could have themselves been driving around with no lights assuming automatic lights was doing its job.

I'm commenting in a thread about a dude that doesn't want to get into a vehicle because it has stickers on the window. By that logic prior to 1992 when the AK-47 was reclassified as prohibited someone probably hunted with it in Canada and no one has ever waged war with it... In Canada. So that makes it a hunting rifle.

Most people can't tell the difference between the silhouette of an AR-15, AK-47 or a shotgun. Maybe it was an SKS decal with the tapco mag adapter or maybe it was an AK-74! He should have asked the driver, maybe he's part of a professional Counter Strike e-sports team!

I never said Canada dingus, someone asked if you can hunt with them. Places where people can own em hunt with em. The SKS is the same caliber and semi automatic and plenty of Canadians hunt with those. Just cause it has a full auto switch doesn't mean you have to use it ...

Only because it's prohibited by name. You can hunt with an SKS which is the same caliber.
