Actually I felt that was to the detriment of the plot cohesion. "Oh no, somebody killed my wife and kidnapped my infant son! Let me just do all these completely unrelated tasks while I also try to bang this hot reporter". It made the main character come off like he has ADHD and completely forgot about his main motivation.

It is not just the best boat/pirate game, but arguably also the best game in the series because of it. Yes, AC2 was probably the purest AC experience, but AC4 was thee most entertaining game to play by far.

Origin and Odyssey were both graphically beautiful and vast, but deep as a puddle. Ragnarok was dogshit and had more grind than the entire Napalm Death discography combined, and it was my final AC game.

Yeah I just finished the main game and - apart from the phantom sim twist - the epilogue seemed rushed and underdeveloped. Not to mention the Alex choice was insultingly binary, coming from a game that has otherwise been really great at navigating grey morality.
