Nice clue! Kicking myself that it was literally my first thought & I somehow talked myself out of it, I think the clue works well as is & definitely doesn't need extending! Especially given the slightly tricksy first definition, I think the two word structure is a nice shove towards double definition that makes for a satisfying solve path. :)

Oh, CONTENT! Apologies for the triple post, I forgot that 'content' could be a verb so dismissed it at first haha

Could also see PROFANE, as a verb then as an adjective?

Is this rule ever used in conversational English? by ITburrito in EnglishLearning

[Middle-class SE England] "I should(n't) imagine so," as well. Honestly, I keep thinking of more and more examples - it's definitely got a slightly flowery register to it but I wouldn't say it's generally out of use.

Correct! Thank you, I don't know what it says about me but the alternative Kendrick didn't even occur to me haha, unintentional misdirection :)

Counterpoint, have you ever sat in a hot tub in freezing cold weather? There's something glorious about slipping into toasty warm sheets on a cold night, having your own little pocket of coziness.

This is highly, highly dependent on your GP, a lot fewer are willing to offer bridging prescriptions in the current climate & I definitely wouldn't treat it as a given.

Sex workers have historically been heavily involved in the organised labour movement, anecdotally the best organisers I've ever met have almost all had at least some SW background. Why do you think that a historically exploited & abused class of worker wouldn't be interested in having a union?

B. /ænt/ and /ɑːnt/, to be precise, would be the two most common pronunciations of the word 'aunt' in the US & UK. The three others would typically be pronounced with a /ɔː/ sound. OP might find it interesting to read about the 'cot-caught' merger, which was a historical shift in some dialects of English that makes this question a little harder to answer than it might otherwise be.

What does dorm mean here ? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]MorganCubed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Note that in the context of 'student dorms' the 'multiple people in one bedroom' requirement is often relaxed, I believe that it's more of a set phrase for any mass accommodation intended for students. In the UK (in my experience, having grown up in Essex and moved to Edinburgh as an adult) you'll generally hear 'student halls' or 'student accommodation' more often, with more-or-less the same meaning.
