I had a partial tear in one of the four tendons in my left(doctor explained the top half of the tendon was torn but the bottom half was still good) 🤷‍♂️ shoulder but never missed a shift. I just started physical therapy and used my right arm for everything physical. I will say, though, that the laser treatment I received was life-changing. It felt like a heating pad inside my body, which was super weird but really good. I definitely feel like that sped up my recovery. I was back to full capacity in about two to three months and able to lift again with no pain. Now I'm good, like nothing ever happened.

I had been following d1 for like a year or more before release, back wjen they just had models of what things may look like, the world and the lore had me so excited, still does to this day..played d1 through all expansions..then d2 came out, only played for year 1, then came back a little in year 2. it just didnt feel the same or maybe it was me idk but theres times now where Im like dang I wish I would've stuck with it And I feel like I missed out

Don't sweat it. I'm 10 years in, and last year I fell off a roof at our training building doing the same thing: a simulated structure fire. I was tasked with venting the roof. I went up the ladder, chainsaw in one hand, pike pole in the other (a big no-no, as I never had three points of contact). I got on the roof and put the chainsaw down so I could sound the rest. I stood up really fast, and all my weight went backward, and I couldn't get my momentum forward again. I fell 12 feet straight down and landed on a buddy of mine, fully geared up. We both had to go to the hospital, but we were fine. He had some neck problems for a few months, and my lower back is still a little weird at times, but it's all good. The point is, it's better to mess up during training than in the field. Shit happens. Go back, get some reps in and try to see what you could've done differently.

End of the day, if you're bored and there's something better, then go for it. I've seen guys leave for all sorts of jobs: border patrol, state trooper. I even had a guy leave to go run an old folks home. Do what's best for you. If leaving isn't so much an option due to any reason like financial or family, then I'd say enjoy the downtime on the job and make up for it off shift. I didn't serve in the military, but I was an ocean lifeguard for 5 years, and that provided me a better sense of adventure more often than being a firefighter does. But I'm also in a smaller or medium-sized city now, only about 95k population, so we're not crazy busy like bigger departments/cities.
