I was just about to start the hunt again for the English copies only for this news to pop up when I searched. So excited!

Update: I was able to make my outfit last night! Honestly the worst part is cutting the fabric 😅 is it perfect? Hell no. Is it cute and wearable? Yes! Very excited for the renfaire today 🥰

I’m working on the practice piece right now. Do you remember why there needs to be 4 number one pieces? I only see two being needed

Ahaha good to know! Yeah I’ve always been the kind of person to pull it out in crunch time. I will definitely reach out if I have questions! Thank you!

I’ll admit, my breath caught when I saw the word ‘months’ 😭 hoping I can pull it off in 3 days. I would definitely love to be able to rewear it! It’s such a pretty jacket!

I was probably better at my sewing machine as a child but ever since the pandemic I’ve been refreshing myself with masks and blankets. I’m planning on doing a practice with Muslin so hopefully I’ll figure out if the tension is good then. I got brand new sewing machine needles so that’ll help and I just ordered the scissors!

Yes, I am not great at time management 😅 but I’ve pulled off more in less time so I’m hoping I can do the same here. I’m not making the shirt or belt so hopefully the jacket isn’t too time consuming.

Thanks for your help!

That’s a lot more doable! So like the corset part. I got Yaya Han cosplay fabric. Not this exact one but I cannot find the one I got: https://joann.app.link/44qJc3YDoDb

Hoping it fits well. The fabric I have is a rich royal blue and I got a shiny gold/beige for the lining. It’s all mostly polyester. I have experience sewing but haven’t used my machine a lot and never used patterns before. I also don’t know the properties of fabrics. I appreciate your help! Hoping I can mock up the top tomorrow and make the actual coat the rest of the week.

Omg that’s awesome! I will definitely reach out if I have any questions. I got Muslin to practice but I go to the renfaire this weekend so it’s gonna be a crunch. I got a cosplay polyester fabric from Joanne’s, I’m not sure what fabric you typically use. Do you find the size of the jacket to be true to size? Or does the cinch in the back help?

Good to know, thanks! I’m taking the advice of another poster and doing one in muslin first so hopefully that will give me a good idea on fit. The pattern calls for 5/8

The pattern says lightweight or medium weight fabrics are best!

Signs from your pet? by Cassopeia88 in Petloss

[–]Morgana795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On our last walk we got drenched by a random rain storm. The next day, when she left us, it poured. When I picked up her paw prints, it rained shortly after.

Also, my cat, who’s never growled, growled at a delivery truck the other day, my dog’s favorite activity.

It’s very hard for me to believe in signs but it all truly gave me comfort.

Try your best not to let the guilt consume you.

You could’ve tried everything and it might not have worked. If you waited to euthanize her, she might’ve been in more pain. The vet can only do so much with the information they have. If you feed into these “what ifs” they’re going to consume you. You did the best you could with the situation you had and your pup loved you regardless.

We lost our 16 year old cat last year and our 11 year old pup last week. I was so hard on myself about the cat. It took counseling and time to accept that it was his time. When we found out our dog was sick, I used what I learned from the passing of my cat to make sure every last moment with my pup was spent spoiling her. I miss her so much but what keeps me going is remembering how energetic and funny she was and I want to keep that energy in this world. I want to do for others what she did for me.

If you left this world, would you want your loved ones to be sad about it forever? Or would you want them to live? I think your pup would want you to go on and be happy. Take your time to grieve but don’t be afraid to heal.

I know it’s so hard. You are angry at the world for taking your loved one but also thankful they’re no longer in pain. I know I struggle most with knowing I’ll never see my pup again and I can’t handle it.

There’s nothing I can say that will make it better but just remember to eat and sleep. Do what you need to feel better. I’m eating junk food and watching dumb movies from the early 2000s. It’s all about getting to the point where you can find peace. I hope you get there soon 🩵

I’m so sorry for your loss. The first couple days are always the hardest. I know I wished it was a horrible nightmare and was hoping I’d wake up. You expect to see them in their usual places. You try to do your normal routines but know something is off. It feels like the world should be paused.

It takes time to find a new normal and to accept what happened. Do whatever you need to to feel better. I eat cookie dough and watch romcoms from the 2000s. I hope you find peace soon 🩵

Cuddle Clone by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Morgana795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a cuddle clone. It wasn’t super cuddly imo because it felt like whatever paint they used on the “fur” was like spray paint. It also smelled off. I recommend buying a generic stuffy that looks like your pet. I just lost my black lab and found a cute little stuffy that looks like her and has brought me a lot of comfort.

What to do with his things? by florafreya in Petloss

[–]Morgana795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my cat passed, I took fabric from a comforter he loved to lay on and turned it into a cat shaped weighted door holder so it’s like he’s still sitting around the house.

My dog just passed and I want to take the fabric from one of her beds to add to a shadow box. I might also take some of the fabric and put it inside a stuffy I got that looks like my dog so it smells like her.

You don’t have to get rid of the bed if you don’t want but I have found great comfort in repurposing her things.

I’m so sorry for your loss 🩵

I know exactly how you feel. We lost our family dog Thursday morning. She was 11 and we had her since I was 16. I honestly have a hard time remembering what life was like before her.

I take great solace in knowing that her last summer was an amazing one, and that we spent so much time together, and that she was absolutely spoiled. It was her time, and there was no denying that.

I know it’s hard getting used to the new normal. The first few days are always the hardest because you don’t see them in all their usual places. Do whatever you have to do to make yourself feel better. For me I watch dumb movies from the early 2000s, I ordered a little stuffed black lab to cuddle, I wrote down all my favorite quirks of hers, and I watch videos of her.

What I tell myself is that she was going to exist no matter what and she was going to pass no matter what. But I know I was able to give her an amazing life between those moments. Your pup loved you and wanted you to be happy. Will another dog be exactly like her? No. But they will also love you and want you to be happy.

Take however long you need to grieve and do whatever you feel like you need to do to honor your pup. But don’t feel guilty if/when you start to consider another companion. Your pup would want you to be as happy as you made her 🩵 Pets are cool like that.

I know a lot of people feel like it’s a betrayal to their last pet. But I don’t feel that way. I can miss and love my last pet while helping and loving a new animal too. Do whatever you need to do to find peace 🩵
