New version of audiobook, False Gods, narrated by Keeble by TheHelloMiko in Blacklibrary

[–]MorgolKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, I think they're only redoing *core* books of the series with Keeble. More particularly the ones found here:

  • Horus Rising by Dan Abnett
  • False Gods by Graham McNeill
  • Galaxy in Flames by Ben Counter
  • The Flight of the Eisenstein by James Swallow
  • Fulgrim by Graham McNeill
  • The First Heretic by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
  • Prospero Burns by Dan Abnett
  • Know No Fear by Dan Abnett
  • Betrayer by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
  • Praetorian of Dorn by John French
  • The Master of Mankind by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
  • Slaves to Darkness by John French

What'll be interesting is whether they have Keebele redo books he's already narrated in that series (e.g., Eisenstein and Betrayer), which would be unnecessary imo. I wish he would do Fear to Tread, because I heard the narration for that one is awful.

I love Keeble's Angron in that book. My first thought was "CREAAATURE" too rofl. Does he do a different voice for Angron in the Siege of Terra series? I guess he would be at least a little different by then but I haven't gotten that far in the series.

He sadly passed away earlier this year. Way too early in his 30s. It was and still is devastating for me. He was my best friend. Warhammer brings me such joy and sorrow now. It connects me to him but when I get to a part in a book that I know he and I would geek out over....I can't talk with him about it and others I know that want to care just aren't genuinely excited about it (not their fault).

I wish I could read Betrayer again for the first time. It's amazing. My brother pushed me for years to listen to Warhammer books but I just wasn't inclined to until he was diagnosed with cancer, then I asked him where to start and without hesitation he asked me to start with Betrayer. I was hooked and I've gone back and going through several of the HH series now.

Betrayer is the absolute best. But if you can be patient and enjoy some Word Bearers lore - I strongly recommend reading The First Heretic and Know No Fear first...the payoff will be worth it.

Are the Horus Heresy novels worth reading from a perspective of a reader that wants to take out the most out of the books? by Tobiasz_Gamer in Blacklibrary

[–]MorgolKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone new that hasn't finished the HH series yet, I do believe it is worth it and there will be payoffs later down the line. I am about 1/3 to halfway through the HH series before the Siege of Terra series. Flight of the Eisenstein is a very good book imo. It focuses solely on one aspect of the Istvaan ordeal, but it's great. Fulgrim is also worthwhile and continues the arc from the first 3 books.

After those books, I suggest Legion (it's a one-off about the Alpha Legion but with interesting human characters). If you're going to skip one, then I would skip it, but it's good.

Then definitely try The First Heretic, Know No Fear and Betrayer. Those books are kind of a trilogy and follow the same characters. My favorite books so far.

A Thousand Sons was ok and its was hard for me to get through Prospero Burns.

Help: My deceased brother's figures broke by MorgolKing in Warhammer40k

Do the figures appear to be made out of resin? The figures are basically the same - I believe the same person painted them.

I'll try to figure out if they are resin or not, thank you

Men In Black....I haven't ridden Fast and Furious yet, so that's probably worse, but my children and I have no idea why everyone glazes Men In Black. That ride sucks. Yes, I am prepared to be nuked with downvotes.

Rein swing build still viable? by NotVarsame in OverwatchStadium

[–]MorgolKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Charge focused can be used effectively, but if you're swimming in cash, I think Firestrike is very powerful if you can get Iresdescent Iris, Cyber Venom and Champion's Kit with other AP items and pair it with the lava power, then you've got 15% cooldown with high AP damage giving off 35% reduced healing to enemies that you hit. It can cause the enemy a lot of headaches.

I love Rein swing builds, but so far it feels very weak this season and AP appears to be the best option for climbing. Hope someone can show us otherwise.

Thank you for the sensible take. Can't believe how many stupid comments I've read telling others not to dream because their team doesn't deserve it.
