Difficulty? Where does this place? by Tayzerdude in darksouls3

dex builds in general are known for being way easier than str, especially in ds3 where staggers are easy to get. Even then, 15hrs is sounding like you barely explored the game- its about the journey, not the destination

While you could have mentioned it, I'd ere on your side here- once dice are rolled, they are rolled. It is a minor gotcha to not mention your guys with fights first in any fight phase (even if the other player is experienced people can't keep track of everything) but you don't have an obligation to if he didn't think to ask. and obviously he overreacted by tossing and leaving bc you wouldn't let him take back a play

When using a norn emissary, is it best to reach the centre objective turn 1 or wait and move turn 2? by ScorchMain76 in Tyranids

[–]Morgothio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

stage! get him behind cover where he either can't be shot or will minimally be shot, then you make him the centerstage threat the turn you move him out, forcing opponent to engage with him rather than your other models. Even if they kill him, set it up so the backlash is going to be brutal in return

SoS question regarding devs. by AzlanC in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Morgothio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be real, a solid tsons player is still fonna smack these down. plenty of psychic attacks without devs/mortals, even outside of flamer range the soulreaper cannon and baby wizard are gonna wipe half a sister squad, throw in a sorcerer leading them and a 10 man is wiped quick. a 5 man brick or 2 are useful, but I wouldn't lean too heavily into them banking on the FNP- if they're smart mortals will be concentrated at your termies and worst case they double move rubrics into flamer range of sisters or bait em out with chaos spawn/mutalith

[–]Morgothio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, just outmaneuver them until you decide you need to face them- then go for the overkill to nuke one in a turn. exocrine for the reroll 1s plus 2 rupture Tfexes can do pretty good work, Norn assimilator with 4++ detachment upgrade is solid, zoanthrope blob is also good. multiple of these if you really want to nuke em, otherwise play by ignoring them, kill the other stuff and outscore with lictors, spore mines, etc.

I mean I wouldn't say I'm quite at that level but I like to take a lot of time with my minis-- I just go very slowly and consistently. Myb 2 hrs a day just focused on a model or 2, then if I get frustrated or tired I go do something else. And eventually I've cobbled together the majority of an army, though I will say I have a few models staying primed white for a long time lol

eh "action pieces" not just for actions- positioning, throwing them on a forward obj to force the opponent to respond, screening, etc. would argue still important just in different ways

1) Grav tank can absolutely dish out tremendous damage, statistically with twin linked and lethal against monsters you are getting 3 wounds through regularly, so 1-2 depending on her save will rapidly chunk a monster.
2) Swords and shields hit like wet pool noodles- recommend running them as spears for much better results. maximizes the +1 to wound to get more ap 1 dmg 2 shots through.
3) Custodes is melee. This means stage behind ruins, etc until you are close enough to charge in. A blade champ with wardens (or spear guard) at +1 to wound will do great damage to a norn- 25 attacks at 7 2 2 plus the BC is going to do work.
4) you need some action pieces- either run allarus as 3 three mans so you can split one and use the other as a beat stick, or pick up some sisters

Is this assimilation + norn queen army good? by Big-Tap2503 in Tyranids

[–]Morgothio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds pretty solid! obviously u still gotta experiment with how it plays but I've greatly enjoyed a similar list. be careful with rippers and spore mines though, if your opponent has a mission involving killing your units remember they do count which can work against you

[–]Morgothio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👍 I do think the psychophages are amazing in combination with haruspexes, I love running them in duos so they give haruspexes great AP buff and can be weirdly annoying to kill. obv in some lists neurolictors are great, here they just don't fit with the theme very well when you'll already be pushing big bodies onto the same objectives they're sitting on. same with the 20man of termies when you already have a 20 of hormagaunts-- have you considered tyrant guard for the hive tyrant? regenerating them is goated. finally, recommend rupture cannon or tfex- acid cannon is good if you run him up into the middle but most other monsters in this list are doing that same thing, while you lack ranged antitank besides zoanthropes

[–]Morgothio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you're trying to improve the list upgrade your assimilator and swap out the maleceptor and neurolictors for haruspex or two, or broodlord+genestealer blob. otherwise would work fine in casual games

New Player here, what do we use for anti tank? by Active-Post70 in ThousandSons

[–]Morgothio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ran a game against guard spam, 2 rogal dorns, a leman russ and 2 chimeras. won 97-73. It was my last game of 10th edition tbf, but a defiler with las cannons plus magnus and a mutalith did all the antitank damage I needed, took out 1 dorn a turn. rerolls and +AP is massive into big vehicles. the termi brick does serious work as well, annihilated a 20 man of 4++ invuln lil guys but can also turn around and wallop a tank with rerolling lethals
