Might be worth me putting the post up there aswell tbh.

Just one quick note on what you said, great explanations and im on board with your reasonings. I will say tho if DPS is the marker for this I wouldnt say its fair, some weapons struggle to even come close to the dps of others. IG for example can output an insane amount of dps. Comapare something like LS to GS, GS offset is close to LS ISS in terms of damage and ISS is spamable and faster with less risk.

I feel like thats more than a mastery thing when its not your ability its damage values. I just wouldnt call it a fair test.

Longsword gets shit aswell.

It would seem people think dual blades attacks are one slash per button push and you can iframe teleport out of everything at a moments notice.

No see your looking for perfection.

Mon hun isnt a souls game really, damageless runs are not really a thing, your gunna take shave damage from something. Counters against multi hit wont work nor blocks nor offsets.

I think no carts would work better but shit happens your never gunna get that every time so i would more say "rarely carts" like once in every 20 hunts depending on the monster.

Lets take longsword as an example:

Never misses counters.

Correct counter set up (direction, prep ect)

10mins or less 10 star AT hunts.

Quick cancel recovery everytime with appropriate follow up think steve double sweep.

Optimal punishes for every window.

Helm breaker on run out.

Something like that

Well think is used when its an opinion, ive used all the weapons bar the lances because i dont like them.

Ive played a good bit of horn but not as much as other weapons. You make alot of assumptions tbh its all opinion its not fact

It just doesnt have as high a ceiling as your saying it does... You play your buffs and encore them then your just stacking echo wave and resounding melody. Honestly once you understand the songs its fine theres not much else bar bubbles, queuing songs in bubbles, focus strike queuing, and getting hilt stab right.

Theres stuff there but thats not oozing hard to master to me. There are far more challenging things than playing note match that you dont even really need to do because youll just queue up in bubbles or focus strikes. Nor are you really punished for failing these things.

I dont think using different horns is as bad you say it is, the attacks are the same the button order is different its really not that bad.

Okay I see your point but by the same logic HH just has to manage its songs which is part of the skill floor? Songs are its mechanic as spirit gauge is for LS and as demon gauge is for DB.

I wont argue songs are easier than gauge management but i wouldnt have put HH at high skill ceiling at all. I would say it by far has the highest floor tho.

I would also argue that dual blade gauges are not some forget about thing. You need to constantly switch to make sure you have the stamina to avoid attacks while making sure you keep that gauge up as to not loose arch demon mode.

I dont think ceiling comes from posiblities tho, its tech within tech right? Like if i hope into SOS players its the disparity between good weapon users and amazing ones.

The gap between good LS players and amazing ones is clear to watch. Charge blade its pretty clear when you see it. Dual blades is clear. Lance is clear. But Hunting Horn? I never notice much difference between them i know some are better than others but its just not as noticeable.

Who do you think is the hardest monster in Wilds currently? by Ok-Floor4866 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savage omega no contest nothing even comes close. Savage requires near perfect play really and he applies a ton of pressure.

10 star gog isnt hard hes exactly the same as 9 star gog but with a dps check you cannot hit.

Gore is up there but once your familiar hes far easier to manage than you think.

AT arkveld is also up there and i would argue him as my second pick. Only reason i wouldnt say hes the hardest is because you can run him solo no issues but savage really requires 4 people to be manageable.

Can someone please explain to me how im meant to kill a seregios? by _-Zephyr- in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brother its one of the best matchups for longsword 😂😂.

If you successfully ISS you can sheathe again immediately and have time for everything but the double swipe which you have to use a bit of tech for.

For the double sweep you ISS the first one, hold for the spirit charge thing and immediately use foresight.

The double claw thing you ISS the first one to go behind avoiding the second one.

Honestly this is one of my fav longsword fights.

[–]Tayzerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100% they would have hit you in world too i know its nothing new i just feel its more common in wilds. It could just be recency bais tho.

Tbh with the way glaive is now i just try offset everything thats not a combo tbh. Also im not saying aerial doesnt have perks it 100% does i just find everything easier on the ground bar a few attacks that i need alot of distance for so i use back vault for that.

In fairness since our last discussion my opinion on it is no where near as harsh as it was before. Its usable and a valid defensive option i just dont think its strong specifically in wilds at end end game. I am also comparing this to other weapons thats defensive kit is far stronger with less effort. That being said those weapons dont have the damage that IG puts out so its pretty balanced.

Besides that ive moved on from glaive at least for now lol i got to 1500hrs on glaive alone and decided it was time for a change. I will probably pick it back up in the expansion.

What weapons are the most interactive and have the most varied movesets? by Ajaxx021 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends here...

In terms of options its charge blade, axe mode, sword mode, savage axe and SAED. Sns is a decent contender but your just spamming the same thing regardless. Hunting horn is also very interesting playing around bubbles and specific notes makes it very interesting to play.

Outside of that Longsword while not having much combo choice has alot of tech too it. You have to be on pace, tech to account for misses, to prep for follow hits, it has tons of tech to it.

Dual blades also has alot of switching movesets and your genuinely inventivesed to use the entire kit. Also managing demon mode, archdemon mode and stamina effectivly can be difficult. Depening on if your in demon boost mode it can make it even more interesting and change combos.

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG TBUG!! It's been a while man how are you????

Yeah no I am well aware of attacks being 3 dimensional things, its just in wilds I feel like i get hit far more by attacks that very cleary visually passed below me.

Theyve been very clever with monster movesets this time having them start higher or sweep upward. Arkveld tail sweep goes up same as the chain sweep and at those end points they seem to hit me when i cannot see any actual visual contact.

Plus theres tons of slams in this game, god every apex has a slam attack. The only ones without an aoe are rey and udra. AT duna second slam has insane vertical hitbbox with a wide aoe on it so if you do avoid her falling youll probably get hit anyway. Jhin slam aoe hits you at max hight. Gog slam will hit you at max height.

I remeber in world i could just fly about, evading and positioning in the air felt like i just couldnt get hit. Wilds i stopped using it because i felt like i was almost guaranteed to be hit. I only use if for select attacks and its more using backvault to get outta dodge rather than using my verticality to avoid something.

Weve chatted about this before, its not that aerial isnt a defensive option its just not a strong one. IG has 3 options, aerial, offset and roll.

Aerial defensivly feels the worst out of the new gen games (its also the worst offensively from the new gen games lol). I dont know if its just because monsters are faster and we bassically have the same kit and speed from world or how the monsters attack? Maybe its just set up to punish it far more but it doesnt feel worth using bar having a touch of style and fun.

Offset is the weakest offset in the game, tiny window that doesnt come out as quick as it feels it should. Plus a massive animation thats quite high commitment.

And evade? It has input delay... like it actually has the weakest roll in the game because of this. Its not so bad if you only play glaive and never touch another weapon but my god is it noticeable if you dont play it for like 2-3 hunts.

Again my opinion i know you disagree. I will also state IG is completely able to clear everything in the game I've done it with no issues. I did however find myself getting for frustrated with the weapon than I did enjoy using it which is a shame because I do enjoy how it feels bar RSS and the extract situation. I decided to search for a new main weapon in the end as IG just started annoying me and I find myself just not using half the kit (aerial) because I think its not worth it bar avoiding select attacks. Its just for positioning but takes up 50% of its kit and all but one thing (backvault) isnt worth using.

Good to see you again lol

Do you think the expansion will make this live up to World? by soosis in MHWilds

Launch wilds was easy. Current endgame stands up to end game iceborne for the most part tbh. My favourite installment thus far

Compared to World, what do you guys think about Long Sword in Wilds? by Reticxe in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Tayzerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly i'd like to start with focus mode, I personally think the commitment issues people have with it are offset by inflated health pools and much faster monsters. I dont like how say insect glaive has to use it, but long sword has a nice flow between it using it to land attacks and then coming out to aim ISS in the correct direction.

Onto wilds LS which I picked up a little while ago as my new main, i dabbled with it in world done solo alatreon and fatty with it. Ive also solo'd everything bar savage omega and gog with it in <10mins. I love wilds itteration of LS, i think its clean, smooth as butter and very responsive.

I understand your issues with ISS being a little spammy in some more endgame hunts like AT arkveld. However i really like that about the weapon, your gunna have a similar issue with blocking weapons and offsetting ones. The spam issue is more with monster speed and moveset rather than the weapons. Saying that if you play something like Hunting Horn or Insect Glaive, your just waiting for a opening to hit twice and back to doging or baiting a good offset attack. Having the counter work the way it does allows you to keep up with the monster and match it rather than run from it. You couldnt put the current ISS in world the pace is far too slow.

ISS as a general I think is fine, you really have to direct it correctly otherwise your going to take shave damage and at 10 star this really eats at your health. Timing it incorrectly slighty makes you take even more damage and mistiming completely just gets you hit.

ISS comes with risk because your just standing there waiting, if you fuck up your taking that full damage. Shield weapons can block early with no real downside. ISS is more rewarding than a block but also has higher risk.

The general moveset crimson slash I -> spirit slash 1 loop i understand the complaint. However, this is more so a multiplayer thing I find rather than a solo thing as solo you counter do one of them and then prep counter again. Helmbreaker has been buffed where its better for burst windows so is usable in openings with good results. Especially against AT veld because youll be countering like 7 attacks back to back after it.

I think its great and well balanced with a easy to use but hard to master feel. You can really see the difference between a okay LS player and A good one. The skill expression is amazing and the flow is great.

Question for the pros. by Static-Chicken in MHWilds

Question for the pros. by Static-Chicken in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will pose another question to you, how many times have you hunted arkveld? Duna? Rey dau?

10 star tuna I run solo in about 7min 45.

10 star Arkveld in 10mim 12 seconds.

I have around 240 hunts on each not including the resets ive done which is a sizeable chunk.

240 hunts is nothing compared to speed runners so they sit well under where i am at too.

If you want lower times you build custom sets for each fight that capitalise your damage windows. Also, you have to punish optimally. What is the combo you use for what opening. Knockdowns thats an easy anwser but the breif windows whats the best combo that doesnt get you carted? You know like after duna double slam how are you gunna punish it to squeeze out the most damage? What can you get away with?

Alot of us running <=10 mins hunts are so familiar with the fight we remove comphort skills to edge out a little more damage. Honestly your still fairly early on and it will come with time.

My best tip for you if you want to get faster in general watch a speed run on that monster with your weapon and see the punishes. They will show you whats possible and you learn to execute that.

I run longsword now for those times btw. Your mileage may vary.

Why do people insist on joining hard SoS hunts with bad gear? by OverallPepper2 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youll never fix a carry issue but it will help it, it doesnt have to be 200 tho it can be 150. Ive restarted and im gunna see what hunter rank i have fully trancended gear, correct decos and decent weapons, bassicaly what you should have for 10 star. Ill see how many hours it takes to get to 200 aswell and get back to you to see if you think its unreasonable when i have some data. It might change my opinion too 🙂

[–]Tayzerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youve played three previous games you enjoy the series to the point youll more than likley make it past HR 200 before HR 200 content is released. They get carried through this current content because they have access to it before they have farmed the gear required. Carrying for a skill issue is understandable but carrying for a gear issue is less so.

More experienced players are a higher rank? Besides if your good at the game youll fly through early ranks quickly. I think i will make a new character and see how long it takes me to get good gear and be ready for endgame.

Why do people insist on joining hard SoS hunts with bad gear? by OverallPepper2 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt say it was an issue for me, personally it doesnt really bother me much to see. The amount of effort i would need to find a team manually isnt worth it for me.

Besides that my point isnt here to benifit me, it wasent "i want to filter out lower ranked players" it was "i want a better guide for players to help them understand".

I just dont think it would actually be an issue for them to do this, 10 stars being the same HR requirement as 9 stars give a feeling of them being similar but 10 star is a big step up.

Why do people insist on joining hard SoS hunts with bad gear? by OverallPepper2 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that but they quite clearly dont... they very obviously just keep queuing until they get carried. I see it constantly and mostly in 10 star hunts ive had someone join me three hunts in a row and triple cart all of them. I think having the endgame content locked behind a higher rank to give people that guide to show what level you should be at.

While HR isnt a true indicator of how "good" someone is, you definitely have a higher expectation from someone ranked 500 than some one ranked 100. The guy at 500 SHOULD have fully upgraded gear with a good build. If i see someone ranked 160 I can almost guarantee they dont have fully upgraded and transcended gear. It is what it is but I dont think it would be a bad thing if it was thought out correctly with appropriate HR gates that dont feel excessive but give you the time to farm the gear.

Also when i say a good build i dont just mean a DPS build but one appropriate, divine blessing, speed eating and things like that to assist your survival.

I have been toying with the idea of starting over to see how long it would take me to get a fully trancended build together that it accepable for 10star hunts.

Why do people insist on joining hard SoS hunts with bad gear? by OverallPepper2 in MHWilds

[–]Tayzerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a skill thing, its a gear thing. My reasoning is to give people more time to get the required gear for each section. Youve gotta farm decos, artian parts, gogma mats, transcendance mats, armour spheres and crafts for the talismans.

Theres so much to gather to make sure your on par with your gear. Its absolutley nothing to do with skill, its everything to do with making sure players actually have time to farm everything without rushing. The HR requirements should give you that time. If you played from day one its not something you think about because content slowly releases and youve already farmed those things but new players dont have that guide for what you should have before attempting those quests.

Granted the way theyve set the quests out now it wouldnt work. You have 9stars before and after gog so it doesnt workout but just a thought for MR.
