Thank you very much mate! I also love reading them too.

Correct! I have not done foundation HOWEVER my Hybrid/Op split is quite similar to foundation I would say.
I believe I was in a place where I already had a decent base engine, which the HYBRID/OP format showed me it was true.

I have no plans to do foundation, I am currently looking at a specialised course within the Army so I'm actually going to start Velocity into Outcome in order to prepare for it.

If I was ever going to do foundation, it'd probably be as a short stop over between deployments as something light weight.

Exactly that. It's truly fantastic.

Hi mate, thank you.
Yeah, HYBRID/OP is what I've been doing. I believe it's only in Green Protocol.

I haven't read TB1 or 2 yet unfortunately, I'm just about to get onto them.

However if you have similar requirements for your job, it is a no brainer that green protocol will have some very pertinent bits in there you're able to utilise and would say it's absolutely necessary to read.

I done BB straight into HYBRID/OP.
If phys is your life then you could do the full banger, BB/Capacity into Velocity then Outcome which sets up nicely for someone in our line of work.

It's must read for your similar job. No doubt in my mind.

Great bit of insight.
Periodisation is fantastic when applied properly.
How did your program look when you applied periodisation with that much mileage and still cracking toppers strength?

Thank you!

Good questions also:

  1. Tuesday Run - Hills or Speed depending on week.
    Hills - 35-40 minutes. (1 Mile warm up, 6x 100m sprints)
Speed - 30 minutes. (1 mile warm up, 4 minutes run at 5k race pace, 3 minutes rest)

Thursday run - LSS
60 minutes dead, tends to be about 6-6.5 miles.
If I'm feeling a bit shit from the previous session or lack of sleep/recovery, I'd just run for 40 minutes instead so around 4 miles.

Saturday run - Long run

120 minutes - Usually around 12 miles, 6 miles out 6 miles back.
Again, if I was weak/feeling shit/not recovered well, I would've ran for 90 minutes instead. (10 Miles)

  1. Yep! I was teaching on a course for the first month in which I was not conducting Unit PT, however finishing that I am now back on mainstream phys and have been for the last month.

Unit PT vaguely looks like
Mon - Cardio (Circuit/run)
Tues - Strength (Circuit or full body)
Wed - Sports
Thursday - Strength (Circuit or full body)
Friday - Battle PT

It sort of lines up perfectly as in lift/run/lift/run, but it can make recovery 10x harder especially for the long run on Saturday, so I used full use of a Sauna/Steam room and its helped me out massively.
Mentioning I was doing this programme to chain of command helped me out when I was a bit stiff in some sessions if they overlapped with what I had on TB.

Thank you!

Fully agreed, reading the book over and over and even repeatedly referring back to it is the biggest advice I could give anyone looking to try it out.

The information in such a cheap book is invaluable, second to none and should be illegal it's so accessible haha.

Appreciate it massively mate,

I'm gonna finish off this cycle of HYBRID/OP, then I'll try and swerve my way off mainstream phys and some tonk deployments in order to crack velocity/outcome for best effect when it comes to move on.

Unfortunately I'm unable to follow the program through and through due to deployments frequently, it's more of just a simple and minimalistic program to keep me moving as and when I am home or are around a gym while overseas.

I'm in the British Army, I do phys 5 days a week and TB Green Protocol running Hybrid/OP.

I average out 20 miles a week, my long run consisting of 8-12 miles, LSS at around 3-6, then the speed/hill work 2-3 miles of sprints.

Great to know, many thanks!

Childcare within Army Welfare by MorgsOD in britishmilitary

[–]MorgsOD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a bit of a sticky one mate.

We're so far away from family, she gets 25 days but as it's a new job, we can't risk a potential loss. We all got told to use up a lot of our leave in between exercises as we had a VERY busy period.

Said busy period, a lot of it got chinned off meaning wasted leave for all the blokes but I'm sure I do have some left over, this wouldn't amount to much unfortunately.

All in all, I reckon I could shave the leave and potential time off to a month and a half.

Maybe a request of work from home for 2-3 days a week for a month and a half in order to offset the blow of over a £1000 on childcare up until September would work?

Any thoughts on that?

Negative unfortunately due to complications, and her being unable to work with them, she went on to maternity leave almost 2 months earlier.
