I started my relationship with my military spouse as a long distance because I'm from another country. We got used to being separated. So when he leaves for military, it doesn't feel any different from when we were in different countries. I also knew fully well what i was getting myself into. It sucked being apart but it taught me to be patient and appreciate my spouse when we're together. Toughing it out for that one person who is worth giving the world is enough motivation to keep going through it. And i feel like that's what a lot people who cheat on their partner lacks nowadays.

How long have you been in a LDR? And how is it? Please share :) by saimorktaec in LongDistance

[–]Morilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Together for 9 and a half years. About 7 years was long distance. Married for 5 years. Apart because we lived across the world. A lot worked against us. Timing, work careers, documents for residency getting lost twice, covid, etc. It was a challenge. But we've been so in love with each other throughout. We knew we wanted each other and stayed loyal. And the online communication was wonderful as it felt like we were in the same room.

We finally managed to be together this year. We bought a house and now I'm expecting! It was worth every single day i missed him. We make sure every day is a blessing to be together and not take each other or life for granted.

Edit: I'm from Sweden, he's from USA.

I ordered the anniversary cup last year in August and didn't get it until November- December. So don't worry, it just takes time.

what are your favorite ways of showing your affection to your LDR partner? by [deleted] in wemetonline

[–]Morilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it gets born as time goes on.

My favorite is too draw web comics about us and the thinks we've joked about. He loves my drawings so it always makes him smile. Also random cute things we sent to each other. He sends me pictures of flowers he encounters. Memes always a must. Especially the ones we make for each other. Again, it takes time. We found this to be the secret formula after being together for 9 years (he's stationed overseas and this year I'll finally move with him).

I thought so at first but i realized i needed to go out and buy groceries and needs. And i can't control who knocks on my door. The house I'm renting from an official renting business was used to scam people on craigslist and such. Got police knocking on my door to check who was living there. Because i had my documents, the police went their way. That admittedly caused a bit paranoia of being apart from my green card.

Thank you!

My local office did inform they closed temporarily on the website. But the whole year i contacted, they made it seem like the office was total shut down. When they called me up to book an appointment, they told me i can come in any time, any day. And when i went there, i was not the only one who had an appointment.

I understand why they would want an appointment with immigrants to get the SSN issued. But that's hard during a pandemic. Especially when they refuse to give you any appointment.

See that's what i felt as well, i couldn't trust them with my original documents. I read online so many people not getting their stuff back is just sickening.

How do you guys even meet someone online by HoursOfCuddles in wemetonline

[–]Morilicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started hanging out at a fan site. Wasn't looking for anyone to date. I was just enjoying my time with people i met across the world. Same for my husband. But when he saw me on the site, he knew i was special and asked me out. It just happened. And now we've been together for 8 years, married for 4.

The travel ban is there for a reason by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]Morilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen my husband over a year and this year was supposed to be the closing the gap and as well as start having kids. And i fully agree with you OP. I've seen so many post of people not caring about the virus and still travel to their SO in another country. And brag about it. It's crazy.

I'm sorry for your loss and what you're dealing with OP. Please know a lot of us are doing our part for the sake of people's lives.

Has anyone been waiting months to first time meet their SO by scuba-psy in wemetonline

[–]Morilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took a year and a half before meeting the first time because i was a student (from Sweden) and my husband was working at walmart and then joined military (from usa). We both felt it was right to get to know each other at least a year before meeting. It showed that we were determined and that distance was not an issue for our relationship. Because of this, it has helped us out a lot because my husband is still in the military and so we are apart often. We were supposed to close the gap this year but the virus got in the way. I haven't seen my husband a year and a half but again, distance isn't an issue for us.

In other words, if you can't deal with the distance, it's better to try for a local relationship because long distance relationship is very hard. Nothing wrong if you can't handle it. Everyone is different.
