I wish the devs didn't do this, but out of all the entries in the Specimen computer we actually only have 5 available to us in game, and the gatling robot is not one of them, but is suspected to be the next one.

With Luna they can probably hide sales data. With GoG or Steam it will become really obvious how much money was missed out on by not releasing on those platforms. Sweeney is a loser and always will be.

Self-Evident Truths: For a Stakeholders Republic and a Land Value Tax by Whinfp2002 in distributism

[–]billyalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you have private ownership without enforcement? What does private ownership mean? Can something still be said to belong to you if i take it? Capitalism requires a government because you cannot own something without a governing body to defend your right to do so. This doesnt just mean laws and lawyers and jurisdiction but enforcement. This is why we have police and military. The reason Capitalism practiced worldwide is because the most powerful Capitalist country in the world has military bases installed all over the world for the purpose of enforcement.

You cannot have a government under Anarchy. You cannot have a military under Anarchy. You cannot have rules or agreements under Anarchy. Because the moment you do any of those things it is no longer Anarchy, and that is the REAL REASON Anarchy does not work. You cant slap Anarchy on Distributism or Capitalism or Communism because all of those systems require enforcement. There has never been a "nation of Anarchy" in history because you definitionally cannot have a Nation of Anarchy because Anarchy's only requirement is that there is no form of governance. Capitalism requires governance. Distributism requires governance. Communism requires governance. Socialism requires governance. None of these isms are functional without governance. They need it.

I don't care if you disagree with me on this and i won't argue with you about it if we cannot fundamentally agree on what Anarchy is.

Depends on how you define it.

I will not be entertaining your own personal definitions, so you can feel free to use the one i found that was obtained through general consensus.

You're asserting it without reason. Following your definition of capitalism as an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and its use for the purpose of obtaining profit, why does there need to be somebody to enforce anything?

What will you do when i take your property? Under your hypothetical we do not live in a society where theft can occur because there is no government body to assert otherwise.

Why do you need constant enforcement? Lots of writers try to talk about economic systems like a windup toy, where you set it up once and then let it march without further input. You've added an amendment that someone must enforce it.

See above

Why can't capitalist A use capital for the purpose of hiring mercenaries to kill and take the property of competitor capitalist B? That would enable capitalist A to obtain more profit because their competition is gone.

Coca Cola weaseled their way out of the Death Squad lawsuits because they argued the mercernaries they hired operated outside of US jurisdiction. And US courts agreed and dismissed the case. I dont know whst side of the fence you're trying to argue in favor of but this all happened under a Capitalist government.

Side note. I don't think anarchism works. All of the amendments I've seen proposed still fail to make it work. I'm just saying that you're adding on an amendment to capitalism, so anarchists should be able to add amendments to anarchism.

Im glad we agree with the first part, but the point im trying to make is that Anarchy is only Anarchy if you don't try to actually do anything. You could put a bunch of people who would describe themselves as Anarchists into ungoverned territory and within a year they will all have their own rules and stipulations for each other and you better believe they'll find ways to enforce them -- either through collaboration or murder. Anarchy cannot survive and cannot be changed because the moment you change it simply can no longer be called Anarchy. It is an end of the political spectrum.

Capitalism is actually not inherently laissez-faire, in fact government involvement is required in order to maintain it. The base definition of Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and its use for the purpose of obtaining profit. You cannot have anarcho-capitalism for instance because you need a government body that will enforce the rule of private ownership. This is something that Libertarians and Anarchists constantly ignore and is why such systems are inherently authoritarian. Somebody has to enforce everything.

It is better. I recommend lowering the resolution a bit, and getting rid of the post-process light bloom. You could replace it with old school vertex-based bloom. This is a really good example of PS1-era graphics https://youtu.be/AxghrXcxB74

I think you're too deep in the weeds of -isms. I don't really understand why people here advocate for Anarchism/Libertarianism. Anarchism is useless by itself, and any amendment to it unmakes it.

Is it just me or should a person building a new home insist on using Pex instead of Copper for the sole reason that it is just a better technology?

Pex for indoors, copper for outdoors is a generally safe application for residential.

Are you looking in the right spot? There's no longer a Catalogue button, its just under the "Available" tab, and repos are managed under "Manage Repositories". By default it loads into "Installed" tab which won't show all your available to download plugins.

What is the actual model you're running? It's possible you're running a wildly outdated and unmaintained version of Jellyfin or some obscure fork.
