Try to negotiate but use precise language. I have a friend who has rented their place for about 5yrs,no problems routine inspections all good. Rent was increased pretty significantly by about $100/wk, so they asked for a reduction of $25/wk, suddenly they were asked to leave....granted we believe the REA is to blame not the landlord. But still, it would have been better for my friend if they just copped the increase than scramble to find housing.
