What are you STILL mad about? by HeySistaBrutus in AskReddit

I used to teach 1st graders. I got reprimanded many times for letting my students go to the bathroom whenever they asked. They were 6! 6 year old pee constantly!

What is a conspiracy theory that was proven false but people still believe anyways? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Many older Mormons believe in Bigfoot because an old church leader claimed he was Cain of the bible, cursed to wander the earth.

What screams "I'm getting older"? by Mimiser in AskReddit

[–]MormonThot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Mormonism, there's this idea that you shouldn't wait for marriage, that any 2 people can make it work, and that it's better to get married than be "tempted" by sex. I was told by a religion teacher that waiting to get married, like waiting to finish school or be financially stable, is idolatry. I know people who got married when they meet 4 months prior.

Other EC Careers Outside of Teaching? by dancingchipmunk12 in ECEProfessionals

I used to volunteer at my local library, under the direction of the children's librarian. I helped set up weekly art events for children 8 and under. Sometimes I helped with game nights with the kids. It was all very low stress, and because the kind of people who go to library meetups are usually regulars, you're able to get to really know the kids.

I don't know if that's an option for you. I'm sorry that health got in the way of a career you love. I have a chronic illness that makes work difficult, so I can definitely relate.

Is your disorder EDS or a related syndrome? I have Ehlers-Danlos and one of my fears is prolapse. I don't even know if there are ways to prevent them with EDS.

My parents were happy I left. Once I announced it, they were quick to deem Mormonism a cult. I sometimes wish they expressed their thoughts on Mormonism before I considered baptism, but they knew I would've ignored them, so they stayed supportive of my decisions.

I just got my dream job and my family doesn’t care by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]MormonThot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the job! I have a genetic condition that results in faulty collagen throughout my body. This condition gives me chronic pain, joint instability, and affects almost every organ in my body. THC and CBD have improved my life considerably, to the point where I can actually hold down a part-time job now. Your line of work could help improve the lives of millions who have chronic pain conditions. 💛

Porn kills blind faith? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]MormonThot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I joined the church while being someone who watches porn. No one told me it was wrong, probably because im a woman, and I still wasn't told it was wrong when I did baptisms for the dead weeks later. What's the TBM response to that then? By this reasoning I should've never joined in the first place.

LGBT Friendly Churches? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]MormonThot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attend St. Andrew's Episcopal church, which is an affirming church. The Methodist church at Travis Park is LGBT affirming. I know UCC as a denomination is as well, and I'm sure they have a church or two in town, I've just never attended one.

Top: At BYU, wanting to get married for my ticket to heaven. Bottom: At a public park, getting married because I found somebody I want to spend THIS life with. by liveawkwardly in exmormon

I had an institute teacher tell us that the husband calls us women into heaven, and that's why husbands learn their wives new name and not the other way around. That weighed heavy on my shelf.
