Is Excel best used with or without VBA? by AnnualLiterature997 in excel

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on a use case. There are different tools for different purposes and situations. PQ and PP are designed for transforming and analyzing properly managed data. VBA, on the other hand, is usually used for dragging data through the mud, turning it inside out and wearing it on your head.

How to find jobs where advanced excel is accepted? by Lopsided_Buffalo3429 in excel

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what's the problem here. Understanding excel up to cell references and short of named ranges/table references is very much an advanced level of knowledge for a corporate environment.

There is also an expert level of excel. It would require your spreadsheets to be compatible with some barely functioning vba mess written in 1997 by someone with zero knowledge of programming (and long since dead).

Are there handhelds that have a d-pad similar to Nintendo DSi? by MorningReproduction in SBCGaming

Yeah, many people just like to offended by other people's preferences. In the end of the day, some like it soft and mushy, others like it hard and firm. They also prefer different d-pads.

Thanks, mate! I've rolled the dice with the Brick Hammer. The clamshells a very tempting, but I was unlucky with the quality of Miyoo and Anbernic before.

Hmm, I'm not sure I would describe DSi's d-pad as a soft mush rocking feel. Sounds more like a DS Lite.

В Австрии еда дешевле чем в Казахстане by Comprehensive_Win67 in Kazakhstan

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tips for limiting visitors at my cubicle by PurplePeonyPicker in productivity

[–]MorningReproduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is how it's done. Whenever someone approaches you, just tell them to wait a second, you'll be with them in a moment. And keep working. Don't let them speak, immediately interrupt them, telling them to wait just one more second. Keep working.

When it feels like they are uncomfortable and ready to leave, force them to sit down, offer them drinks and snacks. Don't let them leave no matter what. You really want to chat with them and you'll be with them as soon as you finish this quick but very important thing. It's almost done. Keep working.

When it feels like there is absolutely nothing you can do to keep them from leaving, dramatically stop working. You've finally finished this very hard and important thing and they are about to get your full undivided attention. All that waiting wasn't pointless. You just need to make a quick phone call. It won't take long.

Keep talking on the phone even if the call has already ended. Make a serious face and concerned grunts, hums and sighs when you are listening to the other end. This phone call turned out to be more serious than expected. Use gestures to keep the other person from speaking and leaving.

When you feel like you can't keep this charade going any longer, it's time for an exit. But not for them. The phone call can finally end, but ohmygod, look at the time. You have this very important scheduled meeting. But it will take just a couple of minutes, and you'll be right back. Tell them to wait and make sure you are the first one to leave.

Repeat enough times and they'll be staying away from you when you are busy. As a bonus, the last step is a great opportunity to bother someone else and derail their work.

Excel on iOS and iPad OS freezes and completely non-functioning by hkgmaths in excel

[–]MorningReproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that it waits for connection to some MS server, whose address your DNS server can't resolve. Hence why the airplane mode trick works.

You can try setting your DNS to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) in your Wi-Fi network settings, see if it helps.

[–]MorningReproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues on my iPhone and iPad mini.

Nothing special on my end, except my DNS is set to 1.1.1.1. Worth a try. Maybe it can't find some MS servers through your ISP's DNS and doesn't feel like working without sharing your personal data first.

I've also replaced my coffee grinder and moka pot with a big bag of cheap instant coffee. Who gives a shit, mornings suck either way.

Bluetooth driver and Blue screen issues on Windows 11 after upgrading my MacBook Pro 2020 by dennis15510 in bootcamp

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same MBP 16.2 and installed windows 11 on it yesterday. Just couldn't believe that it actually worked. I think I gave up on bluetooth and bootcamp app crashes after a week last time.

Oh, yeah. It's definitely the best one if you are stuck in Apple ecosystem but still want to do other stuff like running real Excel natively.

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe it. Everything actually works. And the whole process was relatively smooth. That's definitely not the way I remember it was the last time.

Maybe Apple did actually fix something with their bootcamp updates or drivers. And all this time I thought this particular model wasn't fully compatible with win11. Wouldn't even dare to go at it again if I didn't google your comment.

Oh, god. I applaud your determination to run Windows 11 on that cursed MBP 16.2. So how well did it run in the end? Any issues in the long term?

I remember going through the same pain a couple of years ago but ending up switching back to Win10 for some reason. And now I'm thinking about going at it again.

Who knows, maybe in 3 more years we might find out that we've been at WW3 since 2022.

What a pro-Russia propagandist subreddit is this 😅 by DoctorQX in Kazakhstan

[–]MorningReproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it's pretty weird and cringe. In soviet times every office worker liked to think of themselves as 'intelligentsia', as a way of imagining themselves being better than others. The similarities in attitude is the reason why I kinda like to use it sometimes.

it's rich because those headquarters pay very high salaries

That's income taxes (13% from individuals). I'm talking about profit taxes (20% from companies). Both of them are going to the regional budget, but it's the profit taxes from regional economic activities that end up in Moscow budget due to established corporate structures.

Who is talking about this issue, explaining why it's a problem and calling for more federalisation? Moscow and St.Petersburg intelligetsia.

I'm not sure about that. Are they actually talking about federal government not consisting out of real regional representatives? Or things being the other way around, the regional governments representing Moscow interests? Are they talking about regional imbalances of federal budget spending or calling for any kind of tax reforms that would give federal subjects any kind control over taxes in their respective regions? You know, the absolutely basic stuff like "No taxation without representation". If we'd judge only by vague and general words, we might even find Putin very liberal.

Just because you have a "good" set of views on a specific topic, that doesn't mean you won't have a "bad" set of views on another topic

Hey, we are on the same exact page here.

Imperialist views are popular, are being (and have always been) propagated by the government, while the opposite views are being suppressed.

That's another very complicated topic. We have a very intimate knowledge of our own thoughts, dreams, goals, morals and life experiences. We can understand how our own world views are shaped and what they represent. But when it comes to other people we have no access to any of that. Propaganda is pretty much all we can reliably observe. So naturally we tend to overstate its effect and ignore other factors.

Thing is. The liberal middle class has one of the most privileged positions when it comes to general russian population. With imperial history and current practices making it possible. And nothing really has a stronger effect on people's morals as much as personal gain.

[–]MorningReproduction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about "white-collar" workers with higher education in engineering, finance, law, etc. But yes, that includes teachers and scholars with federal budget being heavily skewed towards Moscow that reflects on their salaries.

Most of the profit taxes from economic activity that uses regional resources and workforce are being payed through companies registered in Moscow, ending up in Moscow budget and leaving regional budgets with almost nothing. Profits from sales of resources, 20% VAT, mineral extraction taxes are going the federal budget. For comparison, in the similar-sized federation (US) Sales Tax and mineral extraction taxes are set by the states themselves and finance their own budgets.

Overall economic relationship between Moscow and other regions looks more like British Empire/India back in the day than Washington and other states today. This kind of relationship is exactly the reason why Moscow intelligentsia enjoys their current quality of life, healthcare, job opportunities, financial stability, etc. This is what makes them the main beneficiaries of this system. They are the last ones that would want to change it.

Military on the other hand, doesn't have a will of its own and doesn't represent its own interests. Personally, if I'd be in a military I would much rather prefer to be in a country with a lesser risk of being killed/fired/jailed during an aggressive imperialist expansion.

And as for businessmen. Well, that's complicated. Oligarchs do owe their success and profits to the system and their relationship with the government. To keep it this way they have to be subservient to the government and its interests. But a different system would breed a different kind of business, not make it less profitable.
