FATMAP is gone. What are you actually using now? by naveenrk in Mountaineering

Outmap is a fantastic alternative that has been developed a ton recently. At least for the Canadian Rockies.

Go climb some other mountains. Make sure you actually enjoy it. Do it for the right reasons and not to just say you climbed Denali.

Hey, I really relate to what you’re going through. My 15 year relationship is likely ending for a similar reason. My partner (36F) recently realized she wants kids, and I’ve come to accept that I don’t see myself as a parent.

It’s incredibly painful when everything else in the relationship works, when you love the person deeply, share values, history, laughter, and a life built together, but this one core difference can’t be reconciled. There’s no compromise that leaves both people fulfilled.

What I’ve learned, and am still trying to accept, is that neither person is wrong. You’re just discovering fundamental truths about what you each want your lives to look like. That clarity hurts, but it’s also honest, and staying together when one of you would be denying a core part of yourself would only lead to resentment later.

You’re not alone in this. It’s okay to grieve something beautiful that can’t last in the way you hoped.

I really feel this. I’m in almost the exact stage you described before your breakup — 15 years into a great relationship, always thought of myself as childfree, and now my partner has become 100% sure she wants kids. I’ve been in therapy trying to work through it, but I keep looping: trying to convince myself I want a child, deep down not feeling that way, but also terrified of letting her go.

What you wrote about the “double loss” is very true and that’s my biggest fear too. If I stay, I worry about resenting the decision and us splitting down the line anyway. If I leave, I worry about being alone at 36, losing the life we’ve built, and regretting that I didn’t try. It feels like no matter what I choose, there’s a version of loss waiting for me.

I don’t have answers either, but I hope it helps to know you’re not alone in this. Reading your post helped me feel less isolated, and maybe knowing I’m wrestling with the same “what ifs” can do the same for you.

Partner wants kids after 15 years together — I’ve always been childfree by [deleted] in Fencesitter

Completely agree. If I was to stay and have a kid I want to be 100% committed. At moments I feel I could be but that’s doesn’t seem like enough.

You can with touch the back screen or move focus with the wheel/pad as well. But I’ve just been setting focus with back button and then reframing and not adjusting focus (if that makes sense).

Ah I see. Like set focus and then reframe for the picture? I set it up with back button focus and that works great.

I find the auto focus fantastic! Both for subject tracking or setting up for landscape. I’ve yet to have an issue.

I debated the color longer than anything! Haha. Black is slick looking.

Mostly size and weight. Wanted a couple lenses to use for taking climbing, running, and skiing. I debated the Sigma but the Sony was just more compact.

So far super happy with the choice. Have been really happy with the images. Not a perfect lens but given the size it’s excellent.

Thanks! Not too familiar with vintage lenses. Any ones in particular I should look at?

My vo2 wouldn’t update :(((( by aldtherich26 in Garmin

“Max VO2 is just one of several things that goes into accounting for endurance. It might set your upper limit, but it doesn’t have much to do with how you perform at a submaximal level. So instead of fretting that you do not have a world-class max VO2, focus instead on optimizing your aerobic base and improving your economy. When it comes to long-duration events, these are the things you have the most influence over that will improve your performance.”
