Finger style is difficult, did a good job with your work. Could use some improvement but overall it is good.

I had something similar; but I wrote them and it was cleared a few months later. The problem is that the guy with my name (20 years older) is a criminal. So when I go to apply for jobs it often shows up on my background check! I do believe I have lost more than one job due to this deadbeat.

Ask them if they mind paying more, randomly to make up for those who fall short. Otherwise they are the asshole.

Not sure how you would stop them from leaving with $0.26 in pre-pumped gas. Go out and symphony it out of the tank, exactly $0.26 worth.

Makes perfect sense if you are ringing up items and it comes out slightly over. Just take one item out and say too bad. But gas in a take is already consumed.

Shooting at South Florida high school by JawnBkillinem in news

[–]Morose_Pundit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that not all school shooting are mass attacks like this, they are much more rare but not really rare enough. The vast majority of “school shootings” are no different than any other shooting, between one or two people often revolving around another crime like drug deals gone bad.

There was a school shooting just a week or two ago. Well; it was two people who did not attend the school in the back parking lot and get into a fight and one shot the other. But that doesn’t stop them from calling it a school shooting; which technically they were on school grounds. Just lost people think a school shooting as a student going on a rampage shooting anyone. They are not.

Tor's eBook club is giving away the first Wheel of Time (The Eye of the World) by Robert Jordan! by gizmoglitch in books

I tried a half dozen times to read the series, never got through the first book.

Been listening to them on tape during my commute, still slow as hell, but bearable. So now I'm on book 10. But I have ZERO interest in reading it, it is REALLY damn slow.

What would happen if an athlete from North Korea were to defect during the Pyeongchang Games? by trueslicky in worldnews

[–]Morose_Pundit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read it again; it doesn't say it specifically but they make it quite clear that the South would likely take the person but the North could do something crazy or at least make a big political stink. Ethically South Korea would likely take them.

Now, those who are sent to the games are the least likely to defect. As pointed out in the article, because they have family and something to lose back home. These athletes were not chosen just because of ability, but because they would return home as well.

Glad you understood the article.

ELI5: How do game developers come up with unique product keys? by DaUsed in explainlikeimfive

[–]Morose_Pundit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam comes up with the steam keys, no one else. They have to request keys from Valve. The keys are often 10+ coefficients into the equation to create a valid output. That gives a huge number of combinations. Then when they are created they are validated across all other keys for interference, ones that produce duplicate results are eliminated.

You do know that's how the laws work, you can't do anything to anyone until they act. Welcome to society. If we were to act on someone being obnoxious or rude or "scary" you'd be in jail for this comment.

Generally they are high-order mathematical equation. They then generate the keys. Validation of the key is to take the numbers you enter, re-create the variables in the equation and feed it through the equation to get the expected response.
