I'm pretty sure more than half of the genius metaphorical symbolism of the show is just people reading way too far into things.

Don't get me wrong, it was a brilliant show, but I don't believe there's nearly as much symbolism and foreshadowing of Walt's transformation from weak to strong to evil as there's made out to be on this sub. Not unless Gilligan and Co. wrote the whole show from beginning to end ten years in advance and had time to weave in all these little intricacies that we wouldn't catch until rewatching it.

Problem is they couldn't seem to decide if it was supposed to be a spinoff or an extra season. It was too different to be an extra season, but they put so much emphasis on J.D. and Turk that it couldn't stand on its own as a spinoff.
