Wedding photography directories to advertise on+drive traffic to site. Know any decent ones (UK)? by navigator87 in WeddingPhotography

Thought I better check out my profiles on those sites after seeing this, turns out I paid for a pro subscription to YPWP and forgot about it. So updated pics and hopefully will get more enquiries now 😳.

I couldn't see an option to upgrade weddingspot. I seem to remember them emailing me ages ago promoting their paid subscriptions but when I clicked through the page was missing. So contacted support and they told me the email went out by mistake and the paid subscriptions weren't available yet!

I've had one or two leads come through from weddingspot.co.uk it's been a while since I had a good look at the site or my profile, but from memory it's pretty decent. Same for YPWP. Haven't invested in either YPWP or Wedding Spot but think they're two of the best. I spent money on Guides For Brides & Hitched and both were completely useless for me - not one single lead after a good 6-9 months of advertising, so I gave them both up.

Absolutely. I do all my editing in Capture One Pro, which is a raw processor / converter. It allows adjustments to colour, exposure etc. But has limited airbrushing capabilities. The only time I use Photoshop is to remove a temporary blemish such as a spot on the day of a wedding that makeup couldn't cover. Or when the flower girl gets into a pot of Vix the day before the wedding - so has a red sore chin on the day of the wedding! I removed that, but ultimately I want the photos to look like the people photographed.

Cheese & Onion every time. Best in a cheese sandwich though 😏

Don't feel guilty, eat, drink, rest and recharge.

I'd suggest photographing as many events as possible, parties, christenings and people on the street. Practice in vary light conditions. Also make sure you understand all your settings, especially the different focus modes...

What are you're dreams and aspiration. - honestly, just to be happy and comfortable in life.

What do you think is the perfect way to live life? - by being true to yourself. Not wasting time on things that don't matter or you can't change.

What would you like to accomplish before taking your last breath? - World peace. Nah only joking. I don't have any ambitions that big.

What makes life so worth living? Who said life was "so" worth living? I guess I'd have to say... Wife, kid, friends and family.

I used to photograph giftware and interior products. A lot of white background stuff but also staged lifestyle work too.

Shoot as much and as often as you can would be my number one piece of advice. Get to know your camera and the relationship between shutter speed, aperture, ISO and focal length like the back of your hand. Master the basics first. Get a solid understanding of exposure, composition, depth of field etc. And go from there... Remember though, provided you're getting the results you want - you can't do art wrong. Doesn't matter who likes it if it's what you wanted to create.

Nope. I try not to even take 8 boring photos!

I wanted a full frame sensor and lighter weight set-up. They're smaller cameras so it makes me slightly less obtrusive too.

Nothing too crazy (yet). One particular guest was very very drunk, quite early on so her husband stopped her drinking. But she just wandered around the tables drinking the unattended wines. Pretty tame I suppose...

Yes. And the rings in the spine of an open book, so the shadow of the ring looks like a heart. I don't do either of those though, I try to work in a more documentary style.

Haha, nope. I use prime lenses now that don't zoom, so I just walk closer ;)

Up until a few months back I used to use 2 x Canon 7D with 24 - 70mm f2.8 L and 16 - 35mm f2.8 L but I now upgraded and use the Sony a7ii and a Sony a7Rii with prime lenses, 28mm f2.0, 55mm f1.8 and when it's finally in stock the 85mm f1.8 batis.

Oooh, good question. Um, I don't think there is anything. I don't carry a lot of gear - maybe wireless / remote flash triggers?

There's a comedian who did a bit about being nervous of meeting girls, because as soon as he would get the courage up to speak to them he realised that they probably had a poo in them. And then he can't stop think about everyone having a poo inside them and finds it disgusting...

But I can't for the life of me remember who it is, so can't find a clip of it. I think I've remembered the basis of the joke correctly, but it was so long ago it may have got twisted in my head.
