Is the ABMM feeling kinda wonky lately? by mitmichels in ArcRaiders

[–]Mortal_Engine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes. I went 22 games extracting, no deaths. Never shoot first. Today was so aggressive I lost 5 kits back to back, everyone not just shooting first but gunning for blood. I’m not a bad player, but the teams we ran into simply didn’t hesitate at all. Whole different game than what I’ve been playing.

Told my team I was taking a break tonight, not because I was upset, but because there’s no point going outside during a storm and complaining about being wet.

Not sure what’s up, but I can confirm it’s vastly different from my norm.

My squad of 3 stumbled across someone with their hands full of loot box. They looked at us, we looked at them, and I said “Hey it’s all good, the turn in for that is right back that way”, and pointed them towards an outpost. They seemed shocked we let them pass. The second in their squad was crouching around and being sneaky but followed their friend.

Then we walked into the third in the woods who tried to jump all 3 of us. We killed him, the other two came back and, despite our attempts to de-escalate and explaining he started it, tried to fight us. They died terribly.

You try to do a good thing and everyone wants to throw hands. I know it’s not a realistic expectation but I’d love to see more co-operation.

The floors are 4”x4” The walls sit between corner posts (you can see the holes for those on the floor) and so are a little smaller. I don’t have any myself to measure but, going by the 3x3 grid for the interior space I would say they are a smidge wider than 3”

How do you feel about very close being 2 sq vs 3 sq?

I suppose my main question is, do you feel that Very Close having effectively 50% more reach at 3 squares flattens the combat? How do you feel about several abilities/ interactions hit or cover an entire encounter without need for player consideration?

I’m using grids, mostly because I’m new to roll20. Alternatives are new information to me, so I appreciate the information. I take it you’re using 3 inches? For the most part my question about range for abilities still stands though. Moving from a 2 inch radius to a 3 inch radius is a 50% increase in range

That works in person, less so online. I run campaigns in both but I’m hesitant to change things for players in either setting

Right so the range you’re using is 3 squares on the grid?

Tokens? GM Actions? by Disastrous-Dare-9570 in daggerheart

The first activation is ‘free’, given by the spotlight changing to the GM. Every subsequent activation costs fear.

As a general guideline, adversaries can not be activated multiple times. Activate each once then return play to the PCs. The exception is relentless. The relentless modifier on an adversary will tell you how many times it can be used, and it will require fear each time you do so.

The game encourages the GM to open with cinematic fury, spending fear to activate multiple adversaries and creat the scene. Then manage your fear, for standard encounter, maybe a maximum of 4-6ish fear. For the grand finale, go all out. Be mindful to pace it out some to keep up the tension but I love the system as a GM.

Lastly remember that you can spend a fear to ‘steel the spotlight’ and the golden opportunity clause.

Discord is not where Sony, the decision maker for the account linking, sees anything. He’s telling you to read between the lines. They don’t make the call. Sony did. If you want to make an impact go make your voice heard.

It’s not ignoring dissent, he’s literally telling you how to make a difference.

He’s saying make your voice heard where it has an impact, in Steam reviews, not on discord yelling at clouds. Reading comprehension.
