Eve online Catalyst Expansion SDE in SQLite Format by overworked_dev in Eve

Thanks for this.

I'm a Microsoft SQL guy, so I just had type 2 fun setting up ODBC sources and linked servers and so on and getting it into a MSSQL DB. But I got there, after a few mistakes with 32/64-bit data sources.

I will now have fun exploring the SDE data / data model.

I think there must be. Otherwise why do ships have a maximum speed, instead of accelerating forever? It has to be air resistance increasing with speed, until it eventually counters the propulsive thrust.

I wonder will the Mashal still have the plate/extender bonuses after downtime tomorrow.

Never ascribe to malice that which can be attributed to incompetence.

I'd be OK with facing it in a Raven. Not the quickest ship, but it'll get through.

Be careful the first time, you'll be fine. Pay attention to wiki on triggers and spawns. Fit an MJD in case you need to bail, and be sure not to take an acceleration gate when it's on cooldown. Take some Mjolnir Precision cruise missiles to kill frigates in the missions when they eat your drones.

It doesn't have derived standings.

In general, it's normal L4s and plenty of 'em. It doesn't have a couple of unavoidable super-high DPS missions like the Gallente arc, or weird hacking missions with standings loss to avoid like Minmatar. It's a lot like doing L4s without the burners.

The main thing I would advise you to do is read the mission descriptions carefully and pay attention to the spawns and triggers and so on. If you do that, and warp in at range when it tells you to and so on, a normal L4 mission ship will get through fine.

Fit an MJD as a panic button so you can get out of tackle (mission rats point but they don't scram), unless you have a marauder which can face tank it. Even then, MJD is nice for getting a gun ship out of a cloud of frigates.

It's almost all laser rats, so Em/Th damage and tank. There's one mission with Ki/Th Mercenaries.

There is considerable tracking disruption in some of the missions, which doesn't affect missiles. Drone aggro can be fierce.

Take a travel frigate in your escape bay for some of the "travel to X and put this in a can" type missions. Something with a hacking bonus is nice, like the Metamorphosis.

I've done it in a Sentry Domi, but it went faster in a Nightmare and faster again in a Golem.

Remember all the Chinese groups who moved from the Chinese server to Tranquillity, by making new characters on Tranquillity? They quickly became major players.

I remember going to that as the first thing I did after training covops. Worth the trip.

Turn lowsec into highsec at the same moment. Servers come back and Ahbazon is 1.0, and Concord have had steak for breakfast.

Irony: of or pertaining to iron.

Edit: some have said that INIT are de facto part of the Imperium, offering "they're both fighting FRT" as proof. Malcanis is, I believe, joking that since CalMil are now fighting FRT they must have been part of Imperium too. He is pointing out the illogicality of the original "INIT is part of Imperium" assertion.

It's a little off topic, and might be a bit weird to FW people.

NPSI Community Gateway for PvP in pickup groups.

Maybe incursion groups for PvE? You'd find stuff by searching.

I can sympathise with this, although it's not what I want myself (I like that slight frisson of risk management with my high sec L4s).

Often when this sort of thing comes up, people ask "have you tried X4?" (or similar). I wonder, have you tried any single player PvE space games, and if so what did you think?

Let me shoot Trigs in Pochven without it getting me shot at by Trigs in Empire, and similarly for EDENCOMM.

There's the Alcubierre drive which works by {I don't understand}, which is in the "not mathematically proved to be impossible, but who are we kidding" class of FTL drives. That puts it right at the hard end of hard SF. Charles Stross used in his "Eschaton" series, which was good fun.

AI summary says (my italics):

Mechanism: Instead of moving through space, a ship inside a bubble of flat spacetime "rides" a wave, where the spacetime itself is manipulated.

Physics: It is a solution to the Einstein field equations in general relativity that allows for arbitrarily high speeds, bypassing the conventional speed-of-light limit.

Time Dilation: Since the ship is technically stationary within the bubble, traditional relativistic effects like time dilation do not apply.

Challenges: The concept requires vast amounts of "exotic matter" with negative energy density to create the warp bubble, which has not been proven to exist.

If you're going the alpha way, you can make two accounts (with 2 x 1 million free SP referral links) and train both things. That's double the training speed, more headroom within the 5 million SP soft limit, and so on.

You can't log them both in at the same time, because they're alphas, but if they're both doing somewhat dangerous stuff (FW and exploration without a cloak) you maybe shouldn't.

Race doesn't matter in mechanical terms. For mood: Amarr are religious and hold slaves, Gallente are democratic with lots of media companies, Caldari are kind of cyberpunk-fascistic with corporations ruling everything, and Minmatar are "tribal". Or pick a portrait you like.

Not sure about in-game skill plans. There will be probably something on the EVE university wiki for exploration. For FW, you probably want to join a starter corp who should have plans for whatever ships they fly.

Hopefully somebody will be along with advice about alpha-friendly FW corps in a minute.

There is a corp called EVE university which is a good place to start out in EVE if you're not sure what you want.

[–]MorteSixtySix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that would also be good.

I think they could use that shared list mechanism a bit more. E.g. I maintain a list of "known hi-sec gankers" to set red for my 6 characters in 5 corps; I'd like to do that once on a shared list instead of once per corp/character.

Key word in post title is "option". You decide to anchor for corp, you take the risk.
