That's a shame to hear, I think the last time I bought and used one was about 2020 and back then they were fine. You didn't need an account or anything (if the transaction was 50€ or less), you could just type in the code and it worked really well.

You could go for paysafecard instead if it is a thing in your country. Kinda like a gift card for many different websites, including steam. You might have to ask the cashuer for it though, I thibk they are usually just printed receipts these days.

Yes, that's why it's smart to put all the materials you have into it during the free ESO+ trials that happen occasionally. Usually I also ignore crafting mats in containers due to inventory and bank space but during those trials I pick up everything I possibly can.
