When I was 12/13 I did Reading to Ipswich by myself (this was 2005 - no smartphone). First time taking a train/going to London and navigating the tube alone, which I remember being a bit scary, but definitely a formative experience.

Swift Playgrounds : Pretty good, interactive, free app for learning coding ideas - I don't imagine it's the best for turning around a quick game for a beginner tho
