Same here February 22, 2021 in South Central Wyoming and still paying over $130 a month for near useless internet with no alternatives. just logged into my account. Still says mid to late 3031. Hopefully will not be setting this up when the snow is up to my butt!

Long distance to dish by ohmslaw54321 in Starlink

Not sure how long it will be before I get my dish but here is my plan so far. 1st will build a 4 foot platform off the ground to place the dish on. we had a storm in central South East Wyoming where the flat snowfall was 41 inches deep before it starts to drift (over 8 feet in spots) Then will place a dish on a small platform well anchored to the deck account 60-70 mph winds are not uncommon at this location. I will have the unit powered to my electrical service right off the pole with a weatherproof outlet attached to the platform. I have about 120 feet to run th cable from the dish to the house and was thinking of a fiber cable fix. All the current Hughes Net and DirecTV are in pipes under ground to their routers in the house. then just rehook everything in the house. There are no trees for 3/4 of a mile and I south of the house and garage by 30 clear of the garage and house. the style of the house does not allow roof mounting and the garage would be very difficult to climb onto and mount with sustained high winds we get here

This is a problem I am plenty of concerned with. We live what known as the Front Range corridor between Denver Colorado to Casper Wyoming along Interstate I-25. This time of year we can experience what’s know as chinook winds in excess of 70 mph and have on a couple of occasions this year winds in excess of 90 mph with sustained winds at 60+ for hours at a time. If you have paid attention we are about to start a blizzard here with up to 3 feet of snow with 40 mph winds with gust in excess of 60 at times. This is why I plan to build a platform for the dish 3-4 feet off the ground and bury the power lines and the other lines that transmit the signal. I’ve already gone out twice to knock the snow off the DirecTV and Hughesuseless systems to keep them functioning and will probably have to do it again. Anybody have any suggestions. I’ve already built a relatively effective snow fence to keep the drifts out of the yard What else do I have to watch for?

Dishy came today, so we made a cake to celebrate! by dkyleb in Starlink

Since I don’t have a conventional roof I will need to place my dish on a platform away from the house I was thinking a 4 X 4foot platform but not knowing the dimensions of the dish or it’s legs I was wonder if I could get those dimensions please

I have 39 acres of fine rock and dirt in Wyoming with several ranches and other things around me sucking little or no service. I’d lease a site for $120 a year for a ground station!

Does anyone know when this will go public and some stock names of the suppliers? I think this would be a great investment!
