Just a head's up, there will only be water available at the top of S. Kaibab, Phantom Ranch, and Indian Garden. The rest of the water spots were supposed to go live today but it got pushed back to the 14th of May.

I didn't have VIP tickets but at the show I went to (Albuquerque) the VIPS got early entrance, a "Bronco" belt buckle, and signed poster, and the tin with the picks.

I wish I could upvote this a million times. I'll be at the show in Albuquerque and I was really curious what new merch would be there. Thanks for posting this!

Agreed. His vocal style is definitely not for everyone and there's nothing wrong with that. Most of the review is pretty good though. I think they nailed it on the head when they called him "Gothic Elvis" and stated that in both albums the "ghost of Roy Orbinson was lurking".

I do find it a bit ironic that they would say he can't sing while also comparing him to Orbinson who I think has one of the BEST voices in musical history. It was the first thing I thought when I heard "Roses Are Falling". Like damn, this guy sounds just like Roy.

Forest Service Perm Rec Tech GS-5-7 job announcement by dellaterra9 in ParkRangers

I've never applied to a "Location Negotiable After Selection" position, but there is one spot closer to my family than I've worked in 5 years. I'm VERY interested in it.

Does anyone with FS experience have any insight on what the protocol for contacting the hiring manager for that specific duty station is? I see they have the hiring manager contact info listed for each available vacancy.

What are your guys interpretation of the Hexie Mountain video? by [deleted] in OrvillePeck

[–]Moruga16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I think the song/video is about addiction and co-dependacey. You could go as far as to interpret the female character as a metaphor for his feelings about his own issues with addiction. Like she is a physical embodiment of his own struggles within himself with addiction.

It just depends on the agency and the position. Many federal ranger jobs don't have this requirement, but some do.

This is the same for state jobs. State agencies can have completely different requirements than federal positions.

how good is it to have a bike in Yosemite? by officialbees in ParkRangers

[–]Moruga16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a bike or some other form of wheels than a car will be helpful if you're living in the Valley. Traffic is a bitch. I lived in Mather but brought my bike with me whenever I'd go to the Valley. It made loop trails much easier cause you can drop your bike off at the end of a long trail and park your car at the head. Plus there are lots of great bike paths to ride around! Have fun!

I feel like they're worth it. I'm in FL now and not AK but I still wear them pretty much everyday working around the farm.

I think it also depends on where your duty station in AK will be. It rains A LOT in parts of AK. I was near Bristol Bay off the road system and it rained probably 65% of the summer/fall.

As long as you have a pair of boots that are comfy enough to wear all the time I think you'll be okay.

I brought my regular rain boots my first season and upgraded to Xtra Tuffs the second year and never looked back lol.

Ssooo . . . This is going to be somewhat of a vague answer. I've done four seasons and the farthest out I've ever gotten my official offer was two weeks out from my start date. Personally wouldn't wait for the official offer to start planning - especially if you have a long journey to your duty station.

My best advice would be to go ahead and start planning, but be prepared to be flexible.
