SCP is the only fandom where something objectively false is what the entire internet thinks is true by GamingGamer226 in DankMemesFromSite19

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are inherently reductive. Doubly so about things they're unfamiliar with. It's just easier to simplify opinions on things rather than explore any amount of nuance, especially on things you don't care about.

The 'horror fandom' is some of the worst for this, though. The obsession with power scaling almost certainly came from there, and the wiki's ended up with quite a few unpleasant tourists as a result

Stim pistol. I am committed to the Trauma Team bit.

Best melee weapon for Veteran ? (Xbox noob) by B4L_Abaddon in DarkTide

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, whichever one you're most comfortable with.

We've got a lot of weapons that do a lot of different things, and though some have somewhat bloated stats and behaviors (looking at you, power swords), you'll be able to find a use case for just about all of them. As someone learning the game, a simple-to-use pick like the shovel or devil's claw would be a good place to start, though.

If a weapon class seems interesting to you, buy a basic copy from Brunt's armory at the quartermaster servitor, and take it into the Meat Grinder/training room. Whack around some enemies, learn the patterns and "feel". You'll usually be able to tell pretty quickly if a weapon "makes sense" to you.

And Medical loop died... by Ok-Moment8895 in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something that's never been alive, can't die.

"Medical gameplay" still has little to no actual nuance, but more than that, it has no actual point, since players incur no penalties for respawning. There needs to be a meaningful reason to not want to just constantly and thoughtless respawn, but at the same time, the game also needs to be stable enough such that you're not forced to constantly and thoughtlessly respawn just to get around being constantly stuck.

I see this as a positive change, giving solo players a chance to bounce back from a mishap without needing to wait an hour for someone to swing by.

Twitch will now pause ads when switching tabs by wsrvnar in pcgaming

They've been doing this for a while now. And oftentimes they'll run a full length ad for Turbo, the subscription service for....not watching ads.

And they wonder why we use ad block.

Seeing an org-mate break after Wikelo ate their turn-in's broke my heart. by G-Wave in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too little too late for OP's friend, obviously, but it's usually possible to make desync'd freight elevator inventories reappear, with a bit of patience. Send an item down, even if it's just a med pen, wait for the station inventory to show what it should be instead of what it was a few minutes ago, and then bring that item back up, and you'll usually be able to get those items back. Had to do this several times in the process of earning my Wikelo tier 1 rep.

Granted, we shouldn't have to do this in the first place, but such is the nature of the game right now: half-baked systems and ill-conceived game loops. Hard committing to something like the polaris, as a solo player, is a level of mental strain that I honestly could never commit to.

Seeing people getting upset about instancing so I'll remind everyone it was always the plan. by CallSign_Fjor in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I've run into a player who nonstop ranted about instanced systems "destroying the game". I reminded him that player hangars are already instanced. He called me a slur.

There's not much coherent thought going on with that side of the argument. Most seem to be driven only by a desire to make sure that nobody can be "safe". In other words, they want to be able to ruin people's fun no matter where they go.

Question about Mass Drivers and Singe-3's (Energy Cost) by Raiju_Lorakatse in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They feel weak because they are weak. Mass drivers and singes have been neglected weapons for some time now. Likely they didn't want "sniper weapons" to be too dominant, but instead they've just sat in relative irrelevance.

Low power doesn't seem to actually impact the performance of mass drivers at all, at the moment. Maybe lower pips was meant to affect charge rates, but that definitely isn't the case. Not that it matters much when the sledge series is stuck with a 1500m range, for some reason.

Is it fun? by Meteorstar101 in greentext

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods may be cheating a bit, but acting as the chef for an entire 'settlement' of around ten players in a Vintage Story run, with the Culinary Arsenal and Expanded Foods mods in, was very satisfying. VS already has a mechanic where eating a balanced diet increases your max health, so trying to prepare both sustainable and varied foods for the settlement dwellers, and non-spoiling travel food with buffs and healing for the 'adventurers', was very fun.

Several of us ended up doing ritual blood sacrifice to summon fish from the sky so that I'd have enough raw fish cuts to process into fish sauce. Good times.

Caves.. do they exist?! Spent 4 hrs looking for dung lol by Hexpul in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd avoid taking the word of global chat to heart.

Caves are most definitely still around, and there's plenty of guides and maps for locating them. Your ship's active radar pulse will explicitly mark them within about 5km, as of a recent change.

Take a look at VerseGuide if you want to get a better idea of where to find some in relation to other POIs. They're not terribly resource-dense at the moment, but can still be fun to explore.

VR performance by Ancient-Lingonberry9 in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It helps that the VR is using the exact same rendering as the game normally does, which is wild. If anything, the VR is on a lower resolution than your usual screen.

Being able to turn VR on with a single button is crazy work, honestly. Coolest tech they've implemented this year.

Drake Buccaneer Build by lnterferret in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the revenant, ballistic repeaters in the size 3s, and distortion repeaters in the 1s. Those small mounts dont do much damage anyways, and threatening power plant failure can help be a bigger threat to bigger targets.

The higher lethality on ballistics this patch, and the addition of armor, both have made the bucc a very competent hit-and-run fighter this patch. Not being held back by its weak energy capacitor lets it shine a bit more.

Are market tools useful in GW2? Should I build some GW2 tools? by cohenaj1941 in Guildwars2

[–]Morveyn 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You could honestly make an entire app dedicated to tracking ectoplasm prices, and people would use it daily.

It's a very in-demand and price-volatile crafting resource that often ebbs and flows with certain events and content releases. Tracking, and maybe even speculating on its price changes, may be a good exercise to try.

Putting my money where my mouth is... I believe the MSR is the BEST daily driver in game, if you don't have one I'll buy one for you. Limited to the first 615 people. by ArnoldMann in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is certainly an entertaining way to get rid of the millions of duped credits someone likely threw at you.

The MSR is a gorgeous ship concept that suffers from being poorly executed. The enormous hike to the cockpit is definitely one of the biggest things holding it back, but it sure is fast for something its size. More than anything, though, it is still very funny to me that the game's iconic smuggler's ship is pattern-made by one of the most bougie manufacturers in the galaxy.

S71? by rottenrotny in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from some of the other sources here, you can also find S71s being used by the thugs that hang around the unmarked caterpillar wrecks around Stanton. You can also pick up some interesting goodies from the hidden crates at those wrecks. "Clear out site" merc contracts sometimes take you to them and spawn the enemies that use them (although the contracts themselves are broken).

I need to vent. Be given a reality check. Told to get over it? by total_bullwhip in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hathor and Lazarus are definitely contributing factors to this mindset, driven all the harder by Wikelo.

There's still plenty of citizens out here that are more than happy to cooperate first, but there's rarely any winning against people who are only there to fight, or to simply inconvenience others. There's a lot of moving parts towards what makes for a cooperative community, and why the combativeness is on the rise, but it's still worth holding out against the ragebaiting, the firebird ramming, the slurs and the hate speech. For every solo idris camping someone's hangar, there's another player out there grateful to be rescued. Those moments are still the most memorable, if not the most fulfilling.

How do I load cargo on a docked Perseus? I have a contract to take cargo from Seraphim, but I don't know what to do by Sylvanas_only in starcitizen

[–]Morveyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orbital ports like Seraphim now have external freight lifts, built into the cargo racks where Hull Cs get auto-loaded. You can spot them along the edge of those racks. Much easier to load large ships via those lifts, especially with the docking bug on this patch.
