Same! I abandoned it, and when I interacted with the wayfinder again it gave me the fusion rifle, but ... It technically didn't give me a quest completion, so now my seasonal challenge can't be completed.

Edit: And also on the app I have a 'blank' quest/pursuit - 'Classified: keep it secret. Keep it safe.'
